Kathy Bates is paying it forward.

As the actress accepted the award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Matlock at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards in Santa Monica, Calif., she shared that Eric Christian Olsen—who is an executive producer on the series—was among those directly affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.

“[He] had a house in the [Pacific] Palisades,” she said during her speech Feb. 7, “and it burned down.”

As such, Kathy, 76, told the crowd that while the NCIS: Los Angeles star “hasn't quite found a home yet,” she would be giving him her trophy as a gift, telling the actor, “this is coming to you first thing for décor.”

During her speech, the Two and a Half Men alum—who was nominated against Caitriona Balfe, Shanola Hampton, Keira Knightley, Keri Russell and Anna Sawai—also commended the first responders in attendance for their bravery in the face of the natural disaster.

“To watch all the film of you guys standing in a line with a wall of flames in front of you is just terrifying,” she emphasized. “I don't know how you did it, but I thank you so much for so many of us in Los Angeles.”

Other stars in attendance also spoke about the fires including Kate Hudson, who said that despite the devastation, she was encouraged by the city’s communal spirit.

“People who live in Los Angeles, we love Los Angeles,” she exclusively told E! News correspondent Will Marfuggi on the red carpet, “and everyone's just risen to the occasion.”

And while LAFD captain Erik Scott admitted that “it's been a very long month” for firefighters, his co-captain Adam VanGerpen noted that their team has been feeling the gratitude from around the city.

“We've had so many people appreciative in the community, as well as businesses,” VanGerpen told E! News. “Hollywood's really been stepping up supporting our firefighters."

Watch: Choi Hyun Wook And Mun Ka Young Showcase Perfect Visual Chemistry During “My Dearest Nemesis” Poster Shoot

Watch: Choi Hyun Wook And Mun Ka Young Showcase Perfect Visual Chemistry During “My Dearest Nemesis” Poster Shoot

tvN’s upcoming drama “My Dearest Nemesis” has unveiled a new behind-the-scenes video from its poster shoot! Based on a popular webtoon, “My Dearest Nemesis” tells the love story of a man and woman who first meet via their online game characters during their school days, then meet again in real life as boss and employee 16 years later. In the video, Mun Ka Young is the first to shoot a poster for her character Baek Su Jeong. After warmly greeting the staff, she quickly learns about the concept for the poster: to portray Baek Su Jeong thinking about her first love, she must come across as sullen and slightly cold, with a touch of prickliness. After hearing the staff’s requests, she perfectly embodies the character’s mood, impressing everyone on set and making the shoot go smoothly. Choi Hyun Wook is also seen dressed in a sharp suit, portraying his chaebol heir character Ban Ju Yeon. He describes his role as having the vibe of a moody teenager with emotional wounds. While displaying such boyish charm, he also brings a mature energy to the character, leaving the staff in awe of his looks and his acting. Later, the two leads come together to shoot their couple posters. Whether in an office setting or a more casual, quirky environment, the actors’ undeniable chemistry shines through, leaving viewers eager to see more of them together in the upcoming drama. Watch the full making-of video below! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaKKEL1iMp4 “My Dearest Nemesis” premieres on February 17 at 8:50 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki.
