Currys faces backlash over 'cringe' social media post
An X user has been slammed for an "inappropriate" social media post that they shared just hours after the inauguration of new US president Joe Biden
UK retailer Currys has sparked a wave of reactions on social media after posting a controversial comment. The electronics giant shared a viral clip from US President Donald Trump's inauguration, showing former President George W Bush apparently struggling to hide a smirk.
Currys captioned the video with "When the price has a 69 in the number" which didn't sit well with some users. One commented: "Bit inappropriate!" Another expressed surprise: "Didn't expect this from you, Currys." And similar sentiments followed.
There were quips suggesting a "15-year-old work experience lad running the socials?"
Currys was approached for comment but had not responded by the time of publication. This Bush interaction was not the only moment of Trump's inauguration that has had people talking.
Eagle-eyed viewers noticed a seemingly bantering exchange between Bush and his presidential predecessor Barack Obama. One lip reading expert believes Obama began the conversation with: "Good to see you" before cheekily adding: "How can we stop what's happening?"
Subsequently, Bush and Obama were spotted sharing a laugh as the event rolled on.
