Dancing On Ice fans convinced they know the winner just minutes into the final
Viewers think they already know the winner of Dancing On Ice 2025
Minutes into the live final of Dancing On Ice 2025, viewers are convinced they've identified the winner. Competing for the trophy are former footballer Anton Ferdinand, Coronation Street's Sam Aston, and wildlife presenter Michaela Strachan.
However, fans were certain of the outcome before the show even began, with many expecting TV favourite Michaela to skate away with the top prize by night's end. As hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern commenced the live show, social media buzzed with predictions.
‌
One viewer predicted: "Rooting for Michaela though all the way," while another confidently said: "Michaela and Mark for the win."
A third chimed in: "Michaela is winning," while another insisted: "Michaela needs to win."
Amidst this fanfare, there's talk behind the scenes that the Sunday night series might be axed next year due to plummeting ratings Once a ratings juggernaut with 12 million viewers, the show has seen a significant decline, reports the Mirror.
‌
Last year, it hit an all-time low when only 2.9 million tuned in for one episode, down from 3.6 million at the season's start. This year didn't fare much better, launching with 2.9 million viewers and dropping to 2.4 million by the fifth episode.
Dancing on Ice has seen its viewership decline by over a million in the past two years, with the 2023 launch attracting 4.1 million viewers, but this year's series not surpassing 3 million, according to BARB's official overnight ratings.
Channel bosses now believe that to justify the considerable costs of production, the show needs to pull in blockbuster numbers, which are currently lacking.
‌
One source said: "There are very real fears this is the end of the road for Dancing on Ice. It's had a good run for nearly 20 years and has a very loyal set of viewers who really love it but the sad truth is there's just not enough of them. We need bums on seats but the ratings have dropped to a point where it's difficult to justify the cost."
However, an ITV spokeswoman speaking to The Mirror said: "The Dancing on Ice team is fully concentrating on the much anticipated series finale this coming Sunday and therefore no decision has been made."
‌
She noted that with catch-up viewing accounted for, the series averaged 3 million viewers, helped by 3.6 million streams on ITVX.
Actor Sam from Coronation Street and finalist addressed the rumours before the final: "It would be a massive shame but obviously the show has been going on for a long time. There's nothing else like it," he commented.
"If it is the end, what a privilege to have been part of the final series. But I don't personally see it going anywhere."
