Dancing on Ice viewers were left teary-eyed on Sunday night as iconic duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean delivered their final television performance.

Fans described the pair's last dance, set to the tunes of the Lighthouse Family, as "the end of an era". Prior to their performance, Chris shared his feelings with hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, saying, "We are skating our last performance tonight live on Dancing on Ice.

"So, it is very emotional for us. It has been a fantastic ride, we have been here 17 series or something like that, over 80 performances but, the last one tonight."

Holly responded by acknowledging the historic moment, as reported by the Express.

Stephen reminded viewers that while this was their final TV appearance, they could still see the pair perform live on tour.

The show also featured a video clip of Chris and Jayne reflecting on their journey before their final performance.

Jayne said: "When we were asked to do Dancing on Ice, it was to choreograph. We had actually retired, but then we were asked to demonstrate some of the technical moves with music, and we said that would be a routine. There we go. We were back performing again."

She added: "As we've been skating together for 50 years, and this is our final performance on Dancing on Ice, we wanted to do something really special."

"It's been emotional," Chris mused. "We wanted to include as many of the professionals as we could. We're retiring our skating now, and it's just fitting that we're able to do a final performance on Dancing on Ice."

As they performed their swansong, the audience was visibly touched, prompting an outpouring of warm responses across social media platforms.

A third added poignantly: "It's the end of an era for Torville and Dean I'm not crying you are."
