Daniel Craig: No Time To Die premiere is a chance to celebrate
Daniel Craig's film Defiance, praised by fans as "absolutely amazing," will air on BBC One this weekend, despite not achieving box office success.
The 2008 drama is a gripping historical war drama directed by Edward Zwick, starring Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, and Jamie Bell. Based on a true story, the film portrays the remarkable efforts of the Bielski brothers, Jewish resistance fighters during World War II, who form a community of refugees in the forests of Belarus to escape the Nazis and fight back.
Set against the harrowing backdrop of the Holocaust, Defiance follows the lives of three brothers—Tuvia, Zus, and Asael Bielski—whose lives are turned upside down when Nazi soldiers invade their village in 1941. After witnessing the brutal murders of their parents and other villagers, the brothers escape into the dense forests of Eastern Europe.
While there, they soon find out that survival is not only a matter of physical endurance but also of preserving their humanity. Tuvia (played by Daniel Craig), the eldest brother, becomes the reluctant leader of a group of Jewish refugees, including women and children, meanwhile, his brothers each take on significant roles in the growing resistance movement.

As the war rages on and the Nazis intensify their search for Jews, the Bielski brothers' courage and resourcefulness are tested to the limit.
Released in December 2008, Defiance gained positive reviews for its performances from fans, particularly Daniel's portrayal of Tuvia. However it did not perform as well at the box office as anticipated.
The war film was not a box-office success but became a fan favourite
The film grossed approximately $57m worldwide against a production budget of $50m, making it only a moderate financial success. While it wasn’t a blockbuster, many praised the emotional depth and historical accuracy of the film, despite its relatively modest box office take.
Heading over to Google reviews, one fan wrote: "Absolutely amazing.. learned a lot about Judaism when the movie came out. I love the movie Schindler's List as well. Fantastic work by everybody."

Great movie, the movies based on a true story are always legendary and my love for Daniel Craig will remain forever, what a superstar, literally had goosebumps the entire movie, badass character he is, and Liev Schreiber was too good man, its full of emotions and empathy, loved how they cared for each other in hard times, It really showed the hardships that those men and women had to endure during that time period."
A third also added: "Can’t remember being so captivated and intrigued by a movie since a very long time. It happened tonight."
Defiance airs on Friday January 24, at 11:55pm on BBC One.
