Danny Dyer says son, 11, is following in his footsteps and say 'it's his moment'
The former EastEnders actor has shared the 'exclusive' on the podcast he hosts with daughter Dani
Actor Danny Dyer has exclusively revealed that his son Arty will star alongside him in the upcoming comedy film, praising his son’s performance in the new project as 'brilliant'.
The former EastEnders actor, 47, also known for Disney+ series Rivals, has taken on the main role in Marching Powder, which sees him reunite with the director of The Football Factory, Nick Love.
Danny said on the podcast Live And Let Dyers, which he presents with his daughter Dani Dyer, that the film is “something very, very different”, as he plays Jack who tries to turn his life around after facing a spell in prison.
Reveals his excitement at the film’s release later this year, which sees him play party-loving Jack as he tries and turn his life around when facing a potential a spell in prison. "I swear to you, this is something very, very different. You will see a lot of me doing press over the coming weeks."
Discussing the film’s premise, Danny explained that the Marching Powder’s themes and storyline are more nuanced than what its explicit trailer suggests. He shared: "But yeah, it is something I’m very, very proud of. Because it is a love story; it’s a working-class love story. Classism is a thing, and most rom coms are never set on a council estate. There’s Pride & Prejudice, there’s someone in f****** britches!"
Praising his co-star Stephanie Leonidas, who plays his character’s better half in the film, Danny also sensationally reveals there is another co-star alongside him in Marching Powder who is very dear to his heart: his son Arty! "She’s a very strong woman in this. I want to shout out Steph, Steph Leonidas," he commented. "Little man’s in it as well. Ooh, that’s a f****** exclusive, no one knows that. Arty is in it. My son, my actual son and heir."
Without revealing exactly what Arty’s role in the film is, both Danny and Dani praise his performance. "He’s so good in it," Dani said to which her dad commented: "Yeah, he’s brilliant." Unsure whether his son will pursue a career in acting in the long run, Danny urges his young son to enjoy the moment. I don’t think he does. But you know what, this is his moment," he said.
