Demi Moore Hints Producer Who Called Her Popcorn Actress is Dead
During her 2025 Golden Globe acceptance speech, actress Demi Moore shared that a producer once called her a ‘popcorn actress'.

Demi Moore has hinted that a Hollywood producer who infamously dismissed her as a “popcorn actress” may be dead.
The Substance star shared in her Golden Globe Award acceptance speech on January 5 that she’d been cruelly insulted by an unnamed producer 30 years ago.
“I’ve been doing this a long time, like over 45 years, and this is the first time I’ve ever won anything as an actor,” Moore told Golden Globes attendees and viewers. “Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a ‘popcorn actress’ and at that time, I made that mean that this wasn’t something that I was allowed to have.”
She revisited her comments during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, February 4, where she suggested the infamous producer may have been “rolling over in his grave” after her Globes win. Moore also told Jimmy Kimmel that she eventually “reframed” the significance of being called a “popcorn actress.”

“What somebody else does or doesn’t do is irrelevant. How you hold it is everything,” she explained. “And while I may have taken [the insult] as he intended it, it’s what I made it mean about me. It’s that I made it mean that somehow I wasn’t ever going to be somebody that could be acknowledged in that kind of arena or platform, that I couldn’t win awards… But he didn’t do that. He just said the words. So that’s the difference.”

So, two things are possible at the same time!”
During her Golden Globes acceptance speech in January, Moore said she once felt she could do “movies that were successful [and] made a lot of money” but she would never be “acknowledged” for her talents.

“I bought in [to the ‘popcorn actress’ insult] and I believed that,” she admitted. “That [comment] corroded me over time to the point where, a few years ago, I thought maybe this was it… maybe I had done what I was supposed to do.”
Moore has earned career-best reviews for horror movie The Substance, in which she plays a fading Hollywood star who discovers an alluring but dangerous way to recapture her youth.
She recently received her first-ever Best Actress Oscar nomination, in addition to receiving nods from the BAFTA Film Awards and the Independent Spirit Awards.
Moore told Us Weekly in a statement via her publicist that it was an “incredible honor” to be nominated for an Academy Award.

“Truly there are no words to fully express my joy and overwhelming gratitude for this recognition. Not only for me but for what this film represents. I am deeply humbled,” she told Us on January 23.
Moore will have tough competition in the Best Actress Oscar race, as she is nominated alongside Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Mikey Madison (Anora) and Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here).
The 97th Academy Awards will air live on ABC from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, March 2.

On February 6, JTBC released the first teaser video for its upcoming romance drama Heavenly Ever After.
“Heavenly Ever After” is a new drama by director Kim Suk Yoon who helmed various hit series including “Radiant” (also known as “The Light in Your Eyes”), “Law School,” and “My Liberation Notes.” The drama depicts a transcendent romance about a protagonist who reunites with their loved one in heaven after death.
Kim Hye Ja takes on the role of Lee Hae Sook, an 80-year-old woman who reunites with her husband, now a young man, in heaven. After her husband's sudden accident, Lee Hae Sook is forced to become the head of the household overnight. Upon her death at the age of 80, she heads to her husband in heaven, but unlike others, she retains her age and begins a second life in heaven as her true self. Heavenly Ever After marks the reunion of veteran actress Kim Hye Ja and director Kim Suk Yoon as well as writers Lee Nam Gyu and Kim Soo Jin, who previously worked together on Radiant.
Son Suk Ku plays Go Nak Joon, Lee Hae Sook's devoted husband and a heavenly mailman who delivers letters of earthly wishes. Having passed away before his beloved wife, he builds a beautiful home in heaven and waits for the day he can reunite with her. However, the youthful and vibrant 30-something Go Nak Joon finds himself unexpectedly navigating life in heaven alongside the 80-year-old Lee Hae Sook, leading to an unforeseen and unique heavenly experience. Son Suk Ku, who gained popularity for his role as Mr. Gu in My Liberation Notes, also reunites with director Kim Suk Yoon after three years, adding to the anticipation for this special on-screen couple.

Based on a popular webtoon, “My Dearest Nemesis” will tell the love story of Ban Ju Yeon (Choi Hyun Wook) and Baek Su Jeong (Mun Ka Young) who first meet via their online game characters during their school days, then meet again in real life as boss and employee 16 years later.
Im Se Mi stars as Seo Ha Jin, a woman who marries her first love after a 10-year relationship, only to divorce a year later. She then channels her energy into running a pub while taking control of her life. Kwak Si Yang plays Kim Shin Won, the head of the design department at Yongseong Department Store. Though he’s always full of love, he’s never had the chance to experience his first love.
Newly released stills show Seo Ha Jin gripping Kim Shin Won's waist, supporting him with one hand as if he might fall backward. The scene, where Seo Ha Jin confidently holds the tall, sturdy Kim Shin Won while he gently rests in her arms, offers a fresh twist on a familiar trope, adding a surprising charm.
The two draw attention with an intense gaze as if time has stopped. Both appear surprised with wide eyes, yet there's a subtle spark of excitement between them. Their chemistry heightens anticipation, increasing excitement for viewers.
This raises questions about why Seo Ha Jin and Kim Shin Won adopt this leaning-back posture and how their mutual attraction, starting from their first meeting, will unfold.
The production team explained, “Unlike the thrilling office romance between Mun Ka Young and Choi Hyun Wook, the romance between Im Se Mi and Kwak Si Yang presents a more honest and deeper story.” They added, “Like their fateful first meeting, viewers will experience the mature charm of an adult romance.”
