Demi Moore fans declare 'robbery' as she misses out on Best Actress Oscar

Demi Moore fans declared a 'robbery' on Sunday night (March 2) as Anora's Mikey Madison won the Best Actress Oscar.
Moore was nominated for her performance in body-horror film The Substance, where she plays an aging fitness instructor who takes a mysterious potion that temporarily turns her into a younger woman.

Released in September in the UK and the US, Coraline Fargeatâs feature stunned viewers with its extreme gore and unique stance on the pressures women face with aging and their bodies.
Beginning her career as a model, Moore rose to fame as part of Hollywoodâs Brat Pack, appearing in films such as Blame It on Rio, St Elmoâs Fire and About Last Night.
Moving away from the group of young Hollywood stars, Moore exploded in popularity in the 1990s in Ghost, A Few Good Men and Indecent Proposal. However, the box-office failures of The Scarlet Letter, The Juror and G.I. Jane saw fewer lead roles offered to her entering the 2000s.

After tending to appear in small indie films and straight-to-DVD pictures for the last 20 years, The Substance marked a major turning point in the career of the former wife of Bruce Willis.
While Moore was the favourite to win the award, Madison stunned everyone in the Dolby Theatre by winning the award at the age of 25 and preventing Moore's fairtytale ending.

Taking to the stage after being announced the winner by Emma Stone, Madison called the experience 'very surreal', and said: âI grew up in Los Angeles but Hollywood felt so far away.â
She added: âI want to recognise and again honour the sex worker community, I will continue to support (them) and be an ally.â
Madison also said that she wanted to thank the âintelligent, beautiful and breathtaking workâ of her fellow nominees, including Moore.

Those watching at home who were rooting for Moore rushed to X, previously known as Twitter, to have their say on the shock of the night.
@TheAlexSylvian joked in reference to The Substance: "Wow Demi Moore getting passed up for a younger brighter star someone should make a movie about this." @PaoloUggetti added: "Demi Moore losing to Mikey Madison is basically the plot of the Substance."
@ScratchyDerose wrote: "Look, OKâŠ.I Love Mickey Madison, but DEMI MOORE WAS ROBBED." @divineysl posted: "NO THEREâS BEEN A MISTAKE DEMI MOORE YOU WON."
