As soon as the new iteration of Doctor Who was aired on Christmas 2023, fans had big questions about one particular character - and they’ll finally be answered.
Anita Dobson, who plays Mrs Flood, was central to all of these hunches, with so many viewers immediately guessing that she was more than she seemed. Mrs Flood saw the TARDIS appear and disappear right outside her house, and encouraged Ruby Sunday to travel with the Doctor while also wishing her “luck” on her journey,
All of this made people think that Mrs Flood had come across the Doctor and TARDIS before - with theories ranging from a neighbourhood watch conspiracy theorist, to a past companion, to an alien undercover.
Anita herself has now addressed these theories, and said that a clear answer is coming right up. "By the end of this series that's coming up now, you will find out who she is and what she's about,” she said to Radio Times.

Giving a hint that Mrs Flood’s reveal might be a big change for the character at face value, she added: "I get to wear some really cool outfits. I'm big on clothes!"
Anita - who has been married to Sir Brian May of Queen since 2000 - also shared that she’d been following the fan obsession with her character, and that some people weren’t far away from the truth. "I think some of the theories are really cool, because I've done a couple of Comic Cons, and the fans come up and tell me what they think," she said.
The star also begged showrunner Russell T Davies to listen to some of the explanations from viewers. She shared of the theories: "Some of them have been really close to the truth. And some of them come up with these, you think, ‘wow, that's really good.’ So I hope Russell's listening in, and I really hope to do more, because I have loved my journey with it. It's been fantastic. I love Mrs Flood."
Beyond Doctor Who, Anita also recently a happy health update about how Brian is recovering after he revealed in September that he’d suffered a "scary" stroke.
Talking about Brian’s health and their major lifestyle change from busy London to the countryside, she said: “Brian is stable now. Brian has never been happier since we moved.”
Anita shared that Brian loved feeding all of the animals living around them, and was fit and healthy enough for an overseas trip. She added: “But apart from that we are just chilling at the moment and spending time at home is quite good,” she summarised. Anita noted that Brian’s stroke had been a big wakeup call, saying: “It makes you realise that at any minute it could be you. You don’t have to necessarily be old, It could be anyone.”
The beloved actress concluded: “You have to live every day as if it was your last. It’s not easy to do that. You forget and think I’ve got another week and it’s all booked up, you have to be aware that life is precious and with life changing so fast we are all on a bit of a thin thread if you like.”
