US President Donald Trump has sparked a backlash by sharing a bizarre AI-generated video of his vision to turn the Gaza Strip into the “Riviera of the Middle East”.

The video contains 30 seconds of weird visuals where rubble makes way for skyscrapers and people walk around with golden Trump balloons.

Backed by many Western powers, Israel has reduced most of the Gaza Strip to rubble during a 15-month military campaign that has killed over 48,000 Palestinians.

The 78-year-old US president recently - who campaigned under an ‘America First’ motto - has instead waded into a number of tense overseas situations.

Forcibly removing Palestinians from their land is illegal under international law, but Trump has since doubled down on his idea to clear the territory and turn it into some sort of modern beach resort.

The video is backed by a similarly bizarre song, which includes the lyrics: “Donald Trump will set you free, bringing the life for all to see, no more tunnels, no more fear, Trump Gaza is finally here.”

The strange scenes feature belly dancers with beards, shops full of golden Trump models, and a topless Netanyahu sipping on cocktails and sunbathing next to the US president.

Trump’s unelected US DOGE head Elon Musk also makes an appearance as money falls from the sky.

Unsurprisingly, the video has disgusted many on social media for its “tone deaf” response to the bloody conflict.

“Sunbathing on the beach with Netanyahu was so gross. Do yourself a favour Trump and remove this post. It’s degrading for all the families who have lost loved ones in Gaza,” wrote one person on Instagram.

Another wrote: “This has to be the most disrespectful and tone death thing a president could do. Have you not understood or read the room. A destroyed country with countless women and children is not something to neglect or poke fun at. Images of you and Netanyahu on sun loungers sipping cocktails are so disrespectful I have no words.”

The video even attracted criticism from Trump supporters on his own Truth Social platform.

One wrote: “Bearded belly dancers; you dancing with someone other than your wife; this was weird for me and I love you Trump - This should be deleted; not good.”

Another penned: “This is just plain wrong!! This video is in very bad taste and just plain horrible!! The gold statue is 100% wrong no matter which way you try to make it come across. This video makes me sick.”

According to Sky News, the video first started circulating on social media earlier in February by profiles that are not associated with the White House.

However, Trump's sharing across his social media profiles suggests he approves of the visuals.

The bizarre depiction of Gaza comes as the expiry date for the first phase of the ceasefire agreement nears, casting uncertainty about what lies ahead for the region.

Millions of Palestinians have been displaced by Israel’s brutal bombardment of the Gaza Strip and during a tentative period of peace have returned to the rubble of their homes.

Trump has consistently suggested that other Arab nations should accept the Palestinian people because "virtually every building is down".

"Everybody I've spoken to loves the idea of the United States owning that piece of land, developing and creating thousands of jobs," Trump previously said.

Arab leaders have rejected Trump’s suggestion of displacing the Palestinians, as it could make the nations involved also complicit in a breach of international law.
