Drew McIntyre is determined to get the opportunity to work with John Cena.

Cena kicked off his farewell tour at the WWE RAW on Netflix premiere. There, he declared for the Royal Rumble match, as he made it clear that he wants to win the world title one last time.

Speaking on The Babyfaces Podcast, Drew McIntyre was asked to comment on John Cena declaring for the Royal Rumble match and targeting the world title.

“Good luck,” Drew McIntyre said. “All I care about is, I want time on that microphone with him, and I want that one-on-one match, and I’m gonna make it happen one way or another. Let’s just hope he doesn’t end up in the ring with me in the Rumble because the last person who got in my way in the Rumble last year and was aiming to main event WrestleMania was CM Punk, and I tore his tricep off the bone, so I’ll maybe ask Cena pick the muscle, pick the bone because I’m tearing it or breaking it.”

McIntyre has his sights set on facing Cena, and he previously feuded with another top star in CM Punk. Their rivalry culminated in a Hell in a Cell match at WWE Bad Blood, where Punk scored the win. McIntyre recently reflected on that match while speaking with Raj Prashad for Uproxx.

“Some people believe it was the best Cell ever,” McIntyre said. “I’ve got my favorites, especially the first one, and the ‘Taker-Mankind one, for different reasons. People remember that for, fully defying death, repeatedly, within a matter of 15 minutes. And, the Triple H-Undertaker one, from a storytelling perspective, that’s what I like about it,” McIntyre reflects. “I guess the Punk and I one, it truly was justified. It truly was blood feud, it really was personal. It felt real because it was real all the way through. And we restored what Hell in a Cell was all about. I didn’t technically lose. I succumbed to blood loss and breaking my back on the steps. But also being gone for those few months, I have a very different outlook coming back now.”
