Dumfries and Galloway Council cancels bin collections due to Storm Eowyn

Dumfries and Galloway Council has cancelled all bin collections on Friday due to the threat of Storm Eowyn.
The local authority has also shut household waste recycling centres and non-essential buildings, as well as schools.
The move comes after the Met Office issued a red weather warning for parts of the region on Friday, with gusts of wind of up to 100mph possible.
A spokesman said: âAll our council-run schools and early learning settings will be closed, as well as our leisure and culture facilities. We will also not be collecting domestic waste and our household waste recycling centres will shut.
âIn relation to household waste collection, we will provide updates to residents via our latest news webpage at www.dumgal.gov.uk
âWe expect all of our non-essential buildings to re-open as per their normal opening hours if it is safe to do so from Saturday, January 25. Emergency school closures will be listed on https://info.dumgal.gov.uk/esc/home.â
The council also intends to activate its DG VOST support service at 5am on Friday.
