Duolingo Shared Its Most Unhinged Stunt Yet: RIP Duo
Duolingo, well known and loved language-learning app, has been sharing unhinged content on social media, but the recent stunt takes the cake.
Social media users have been flocking to Duolingo's pages for a while thanks to their unhinged and hilarious marketing. They've been jumping on the bandwagon of many pop culture topics and have tons of popular brands commenting on their hilarious videos. But today's video might be the most unhinged one yet.
The popular language-learning app shared a few videos on TikTok on Tuesday that quickly went viral. And we must say, the comment sections do not disappoint.

Duolingo Entertains With Creative Social Media Marketing
Many social media users probably agree that Duolingo is doing a great job at entertaining their more then 15 million TikTok followers and nearly 4 million Instagram followers. Many of their recent videos have fans either shocked, confused, or cracking up, (and sometimes all three), but their posts on Tuesday have a different vibe.
Most of their videos quickly grab tons of attention and eventually go viral. The videos they shared on Tuesday are no different with the first one posted having more than 500K views currently and the second post with 1.8 million views.

Duo, the brand's beloved mascot, is the star of their social media marketing. But in some strange turn of events, Duo was suddenly killed off by the brand on Tuesday.
"It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that Duo, formally known as The Duolingo Owl, is dead," the brand wrote in a message on both their Instagram and TikTok pages.
"Authorities are currently investigating his cause of death and we are cooperating fully. Tbh, he probably died waiting for you to do your lesson, but what do we know."
The post continued, "We're aware he had many enemies, but we kindly ask that you refrain from sharing why you hate him in the comments. If you feel inclined to share, please also include your credit card number so we can automatically sign you up for Duolingo Max in his memory."

They concluded the message, "We appreciate you respecting Dua Lipa's privacy at this time."

The Comment Section Went Wild
It didn't take long for the brand to change their previous profile photo to a more dead looking Duo.
Fans and other brands dropped into the comments to grieve and leave their condolences for the spunky, green owl. (And of course, make jokes about the situation.)
"I never did my lessons how do you say 'rest in peace' in Spanish?" Uncrustables wrote. Pop-Tarts added, "fly high, wise one." Meow Mix wanted everyone to know, "MY CAT IS NOT RESPONSIBLE."
The Calm app took this opportunity to share, "Grief is a big emotion. Let us know if you need anything."
One fan wanted to know, "What does Dua Lipa have to do with this?" and another asked, "Was BBL Drizzy behind this?" (We'll address this comment in a bit.)

A Follow Up Video By Duolingo Shared 'Duo Died'

Not long after breaking the terrible news that Duo has left the building, the brand shared another video illustrating Duo's death in a slightly disturbing (but entertaining) way.
This video quickly went viral and the comments here also didn't disappoint.
Violife Foods commented, "oh that’s not-," to which Duolingo responded, "Sad, so sad." Zillow commented, "It’s like he’s still here with us," and Tide Rescue said, "Oh man do you need help cleaning up."
Another fan had Drake on their mind saying, "Funny how Duolingo tweeted ‘say Drake’ then an hour later he’s dead??" Another wanted to know, "why are all verified companies just appearing out of nowhere."

And now back to that BBL Drizzy comment...
Just a day ago, Duolingo shared a video captioned, "Drake after attending his own funeral on National TV."
And the crowd went wild!
"Getting dissed by Duolingo is crazy," one viewer noted in the comment section. Another added, "Duo is so MESSY and I’m here for it."
And there's more where that came from!
"Duo in their unhinged era and I’m here for it," one person wrote. Another asked, "Duo were you waiting for this opportunity," to which they replied, "for an entire year."
Another viewer pointed out, "Ever since duo came back from Rednote they been willllld."
