Oscars fans were on the edges of their seats as an image of Timothee Chalamet flashed on screen as his ex-girlfriend Lily-Rose Depp presenting an award.

Oscars fans were stunned by an apparent snub at actress Lily-Rose Depp after her ex, Timothee Chalamet appeared on the big screen behind her while she presented an award. While the 25-year-old star of Nosferatu was presenting the Best Costume Design award, an image of her ex-boyfriend, Chalamet, unexpectedly appeared behind her. It was later revealed that her ex, who was at the event with his new girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, had reportedly avoided the stage during his Deppâs presentation.
It didn't take long before fans flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter - to share their speculation online. One user penned: âthis was SO AWK! they knew what they were doingâ as another agreed: âMAJOR shade coming in there from the Oscars for Timmy and Lily omg". More chimed in commenting that the actor, who lost out on a Best Actor Oscar to Adrian Brody, intentionally left his seat to avoid being seen looking at his ex-girlfriend on stage.

One fan mused: âI think he left during her presenting coz he knew theyâd zoom in on him looking at her.â Another blasted: âThat is WEIRD AS HELL that he left his seat during this!â
The Bob Dylan star and Lily-Rose dated from September 2018 to April 2020. The pair both walked the red carpet within minutes of each other at the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 2, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
Chalamet was accompanied by his current girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, who he began dating in 2023. While Kylie opted out of the red carpet, she was spotted sitting beside Chalamet during the event.
The couple also appeared together at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards. A source shared with Page Six in January: "Timothée is used to attending award shows and events, but it was nice having Kylie there to support him.
"Kylie really is his best friend and his biggest supporter. They have such a strong connection and he was so thankful she could be there with him. [She] has such a positive energy and she just has a way of uplifting TimothĂ©eâs vibe whenever sheâs around.â
Chalamet and Depp met while filmnig The King in 2018. They split two years later, with E! News speculating that distance played a part in their breakup. Depp told The Drew Barrymore Show in 2019 about why sheâs never commented on her romance with Chalamet.
She explained: âThe value of privacy is something thatâs been instilled in me from an early age. Growing up in a family like I did, it was always something that was ⊠I always learned the importance of privacy and valuing that and keeping things just for yourself. And so thatâs something that Iâve carried on into my own career and thatâs really important to me.â
As for Chalamet and Jenner, a source told Entertainment Tonight in February 2025 that Jenner is âhappy to supportâ her boyfriend âthroughout his awards season.â âShe admires how talented and hardworking he is,â the insider said.
