EastEnders fans are predicting that an unlikely character has the potential to be the 'greatest villain ever' following a major twist in Albert Square.
Introduced last year, along with his sons Harry and Barney Mitchell, Teddy Mitchell appeared to be a happy-go-lucky dad who just wanted his children to be happy.

Article continues belowA cloud of mystery surrounded the latest batch of Mitchells upon their arrival, with Harry's ex-girlfriend Shireen revealed to have gone missing under suspicious circumstances.
Once Harry's name was in the clear, Teddy began a period of good fortune in his new Walford home, falling in love and beginning to date Sharon Watts.
Sadly in soaps, things can't stay good forever, with the arrival of Teddy's estranged wife Nicola Mitchell resulting in a number of the character's most explosive storylines to date.

Nicola is currently in a battle to stop Teddy from finding out that his beloved Barney isn't actually his son, with Zack Hudson recently revealed to be the teenager's biological father.
Despite Teddy not knowing this, he learned this week that Sharon cheated on him with her ex-husband Grant Mitchell during Ross Kemp's brief return to the BBC soap last month.

Showing a rare violent side in scenes aired on Wednesday night (March 12), Teddy began shouting and smashed a glass, cutting his hand, before later getting into a fist-fight with Zack, who tried to defend his sister Sharon.
With Zack and Sharon debating telling the truth at the end of the episode, Nicola revealed to them that Teddy killed Shireen and he shouldn't be tested going forward.
"Teddy Mitchell is a killer. And if you take his son away, he will kill you. And me. He won't lose a wink of sleep over it. He slept soundly next to me for years. Shireen Bashar. Look her up and then keep your mouth shut, for all our sakes," Nicola said.

In a post on the EastEnders Reddit page titled 'Teddy's potential', @LowAsk4901 claimed that he could be 'one of Eastenders greatest villains if they fulfil this potential', a belief that was echoed in the comments.
@TheCattorney said: "I really hope they don't have him get quickly defeated by Phil who comes to save the day after coming out of hospital and instead take time with Teddy and build his character. I really want him to stick around." @Puzzled-Antelope614 added: "I don’t think he really killed Shireen, but it’s interesting that fan theories on him are correct."
@LusciousLouisee wrote: "I think Teddy is smart. He comes across as the nice guy as a manipulation tactic so that people would never suspect anything from him but if pushed to the edge he can flip. That’s how he draws people in and becomes likeable. While EastEnders fans appear to be in unison that a villain arc for Teddy would be compelling, a large section of the soap fandom are hedging their bets that Nicola is to blame for Shireen's death. Only time will tell who is right.
