Ed Sheeran fans stunned as he makes public appearance with unlikely film star
Ed Sheeran was in the stands as his beloved Ipswich Town took on Tottenham in the Premier League, but it was the Grammy Award winner's choice of companion that got people talking
Ed Sheeran was spotted at Portman Ground on Saturday, cheering for his home team.
The 34 year old Suffolk native is a fervent Ipswich Town supporter and even owns shares in the club.
However, it wasn't the four-time Grammy Award winner and seven-time BRITs recipient's presence at the Premier League game that surprised fans, but rather his company - fellow redhead Rupert Grint.
Despite Ipswich Town losing to Tottenham Hotspurs 4-1, both stars seemed to enjoy each other's company.

Harry Potter star Rupert, a Spurs fan, kept it casual in a faded black denim jacket and a plain black baseball cap.
Fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to comment on the pair's outing, with one noting their similar looks: "This is so funny bcs Rupert Grint and Ed Sheeran are basically twins and they attend the same game yet support different teams lol."
Another joked: "He only invites ginger celebrities into his box." A fan couldn't contain their amusement, sharing a chuckle on social media: "Lol Rupert Grint and Ed Sheeran sat next to each other at the spurs ipswich game," complete with a confetti emoji.
Another gobsmacked spectator commented, "Rupert Grint and Ed Sheeran reunion was not on my 2025 bingo card."
Despite the fun-filled encounter with Rupert Grint at the match, Ed Sheeran is well acquainted with sporting disappointment, becoming meme fodder after Ipswich's crushing 6-0 home defeat by Manchester City.
Sky Sports cheekily poked fun at the singer with a tweet featuring his photo and the playfully rewritten lyrics from his tune Photograph: "Loving (football) can hurt sometimes!", reports the Mirror.
But Ed Sheeran's presence isn't limited to just the football stands at Portman Ground. His surprise visits extend to performing music, uplifting communities, and delighting fans in unexpected ways.
In a heartwarming move last month, he even dropped by the Tinderbox Collective youth music group in Edinburgh, where he engaged with aspiring musicians and participated in their choir performance.
The reaction from the kids was one of utter astonishment and inspiration, with one awestruck boy sharing: "We were absolutely shocked.
