Ellen Pompeo, best known for her role in Grey's Anatomy, made her first appearance in Hulu's true-crime drama Good American Family this week, marking a significant departure from her long-running series.
The 55 year old actress takes on the role of Kristine Barnett, who adopted Ukrainian orphan Natalia Grace (portrayed by Imogen Faith Reid), born with dwarfism, only to abandon her amidst disturbing allegations.
Good American Family premiered this week, releasing the first three episodes simultaneously, with subsequent instalments set to drop weekly.
The eight-part series boasts a star-studded cast including Mark Duplass, DuleĢ Hill, Christina Hendricks and Sarayu Blue.
While Pompeo's latest role is a far cry from Grey's Anatomy, eagle-eyed fans might have spotted a mini-reunion with a fellow actor from the ABC show, reports the Mirror US.

GETTY)Blue, 50, had a guest stint on Grey's Anatomy back in 2014, featuring in season 10, episode 14 titled You've Got to Hide Your Love Away.
This particular episode introduced a non-fraternisation policy to curb any romantic escapades among staff members.
Blue portrayed a character named Pam, who visits her friend Lisa Campbell (Lindsey Kraft) following an unfortunate incident involving a garbage chute.
Lisa was entangled in an affair with a man named Ted and found herself unable to break things off, leading Pam to step in and end the relationship on her friend's behalf.

She didn't stop there: she landed parts in the teen flick To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You and the hit Netflix series Never Have I Ever.
The actress has broadened her horizons with appearances in the To All the Boys universe's TV spin-off, XO, Kitty, as well as Expats and even lent her voice talent to the animated series Velma.
Considering Ellen Pompeo has been a cornerstone of Grey's Anatomy for two decades, it's hardly shocking that she's crossed paths with at least one star who's graced the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.
Grey's Anatomy has been a launchpad for numerous actors who found stardom after their appearances on the Shondaland blockbuster, including Little Miss Sunshine's Abigail Breslin, Elisabeth Moss, Jesse Plemons, Dylan Minnette ā known for 13 Reasons Why, Keke Palmer, and Stranger Things prodigy Millie Bobby Brown, just to name a few.

On top of acting, Pompeo is flexing her muscles as an executive producer on her newest Hulu endeavour.
During an interview with Collider, Pompeo gushed about how "completely different in every way" her role is from Meredith Grey.
She expressed her enthusiasm: "I was so excited [...] I was like please let me do something else. I love Grey's, I love Meredith, I love all the fans, but please let me do something else. Let's see if I still have it."
Blue, who portrays Valika, Kristin's closest mate in Good American Family, also had a chat with the outlet. She described the relationship between the two women as an "interesting dynamic" and found watching their friendship "unravel" intriguing.
Good American Family drops weekly on Hulu on Wednesdays and will come to Disney+ in the UK on May 7
