Legendary performer Elton John has confirmed new album 'Who Believes in Angels?' will release on April 4 – and fans were all left saying the same thing about the Brandi Carlile collaborationElton John's latest album announcement has fans all saying the same thing
Fans of piano rock legend Elton John were all left saying the same thing following the announcement of a new album.
Sir Elton, 77, retired from touring last year after an iconic headline performance at Glastonbury and a return to Dodger Stadium, where he had previously played on the Rock of the Westies tour. Despite confirming he would no longer tour, Elton has still appeared in live performances and is hard at work in the studio with a new album.
'Who Believes in Angels?' will mark Sir Elton's first studio album release since 2021's Lockdown Sessions. Fans of the I'm Still Standing and Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting singer took to Reddit and shared their excitement over the Brandi Carlile-featuring album.
One fan shared confirmation of the album with a photograph of a letter written by Elton regarding the new release. He writes: "In 20 days, we wrote 14 songs, and 10 are coming out on the record. For me, it's immaculate, it's incredible, considering the start." The pop legend also adds the album was "one of the most difficulty creative processes I've ever been through".
He wrote: "I wanted to play better, sing better, write better, and challenge myself creatively. It was one of the most difficult creative processes I've ever been through, but couldn't be prouder of the outcome."
Fans were all left saying the same thing about the album. They were sceptical it would happen after being teased for years – but the vast majority are happy with the confirmation.
One user wrote: "I remember early speculation about this album and people saying it wasn't true. So this is the album they said they made in 2023 and announced at the Gershwin ceremony? The one we've been waiting for?" Another fan replied: "I think this is the one Elton referenced at the Grammys in 2023, the one he said would 'surprise the s*** out of everyone'."
A third added: "I hope I'm not the only one hyped for this. (Yes, we all want another solo album but this should be good.)" Some are remaining "cautiously optimistic" ahead of the album's release.
One user wrote: "I’m cautiously optimistic because of Elton and Brandi’s obvious enthusiasm, but I’d love to hear more from Bernie on this. He’s seemed a much better litmus test on their creative output in recent times. I remember when 'The Diving Board' released, Bernie was a champion for that record and was obviously proud (I agree). Subsequently, the release of 'Wonderful Crazy Night' had Bernie a bit more reticent to offer praise. To me, the circumstances of Elton asking Bernie for 'happy' lyrics set the project up to be inauthentic (which I think it was)."
Some were left a little underwhelmed at the collaboration album announcement though, and are holding out for fresh, solo material. They wrote: "I’m really hoping this isn’t the album that he’s been teasing. I mean any new song is great and all but I would just like a solo album."
