Elton John's Oscars 'snub' to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after 'fall out'
Elton John has been a friend and confidante of the Sussexes for many years, even performing at Princess Diana's funeral, but he has reportedly had a falling out with Prince Harry.

Elton John sparked rumours two years ago when he seemingly "snubbed" some members of the Royal Family from his renowned Oscars party in 2023.
The Rocketman singer and Prince Harry allegedly had a disagreement, resulting in Harry and his wife Meghan Markle being omitted from the guest list for Sir Elton's bash.
This assertion was made by Tom Bower, author of the 2022 book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, following that year's Academy Awards ceremony. This followed Harry discussing his relationship with Sir Elton in his explosive memoir Spare, the Express reports.

The iconic singer was very close with the former Princess of Wales, so much so he even performed at her funeral, with a reworked version of his iconic track Candle in the Wind raising money in her memory.
The award-winning songwriter, who has won numerous accolades including his own Academy Awards and Grammys, came to the aid of the royals when Harry and Meghan faced intense criticism after deciding to leave the UK for a new life in the States.
In support of the couple, Sir Elton said he had become "deeply distressed" by the "distorted and malicious account in the press" when it emerged they had stayed at his property for a holiday.
However, Harry expressed his disappointment with Sir Elton when it was revealed that the singer planned to serialise his memoir in the Daily Mail, due to his recent legal action with the newspaper.
He believed that the newspaper had disrupted his tranquillity. Yet, Sir Elton John had an enthusiasm for encouraging more people to "read his book".
This apparently led Harry to distance himself from their friendship. Additionally, Harry added: "I loved him. I'll always love him. And I also didn't want to spoil the holiday."

Harry penned: "He rose slowly, stiffly, as if he was one of the great kings buried for centuries beneath the abbey, suddenly roused back to life. He walked to the front, seated himself at a grand piano."
He then commented: "Is there anyone who doesn't know that he sang Candle in the Wind, a version he'd reworked for Mummy? I can't be sure the notes in my head are from that moment or from clips I've seen since. Possibly they're vestiges of recurring nightmares."
Nevertheless, it is conjectured that Harry and Meghan might no longer have the same intimacy with the 77-year-old artist, especially since they did not attend his famous Academy Awards party.
Tom Bower, while on GB News, claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, having moved to the US in 2020, "weren't even invited to Elton John's party at the Oscars... they really are nobodies in Hollywood".
Sir Elton John's annual extravaganza has been a boon for HIV fundraising, with around $9 million (ÂŁ7.4 million) being raised for his AIDS Foundation under the banner I'm Still Standing. The cause is one that Sir Elton, along with Princess Diana and Prince Harry, have treasured deeply.
In a monumental moment back in 1987, Princess Diana famously inaugurated the UK's first exclusive HIV ward at the London Middlesex Hospital. While Sir Elton shares a friendship with Prince William, he is said to have an even closer bond with Prince Harry.
A royal insider divulged to the Daily Mirror in 2018: "Elton speaks to Harry and Meghan every day. He's an inspiration, an almost 'motherly' figure. He is a constant support, especially to Meghan, and is very protective of them both."

Displaying their deep appreciation, Harry and Meghan crafted a heartfelt tribute video for Sir Elton's farewell concert, putting a poignant note on the end of his illustrious singing career.
In it, the prince warmly acknowledged, "Thank you for being the friend that you were to my mum. Thank you for being our friend, thank you for being a friend to our kids... we love you."
