Emmerdale fans 'expose' serial killer in 'stolen identity' twist
Fans think a case of stolen identity is lurking in the Dales
Emmerdale fans are still suspicious over John Sugden and are convinced that he "stole the identity" of someone before joining the Dales.
Oliver Farnworth made his Emmerdale debut in August 2024 and was revealed to be Victoria Sugden's half-brother due to their shared father. When he joined the village, The Express reported he was "enigmatic" and considered himself a "lone wolf" thanks to his military past.

Fans may also recognise the actor as playing the role of Andy Carver in Coronation Street before he was killed off by Pat Phelan - twice.
Upon joining the ITV soap, John struck up a romance with Aaron Dingle - his half-brother's ex-husband. The pair were involved with one of the biggest storylines at the start of the year when villain Anthony Fox reached his comeuppance and was murdered.
ā
Aaron and John had gone back to the scene where Aaron had attacked Anthony after it was revealed that he had sexually abused Ruby when she was a teenager. When they reached the depot, they discovered that Anthony had died.
Convinced that it was his fault, Aaron panicked but John stepped in and promised that he would take care of it. He got to work without hesitation as he cleared the crime scene of any evidence and wrapped Anthony up before dumping him somewhere off-screen.
However, John has been treated with suspicion by some fans who believe that his chequered past might be hiding more than we currently know. Particularly, as Nate Robinson's body has been spotted in the frozen lake after viewers thought he had left last year.

John was the last person to see Nate - that we know of. On X (formerly known as Twitter), @LoveSoapsntv previously theorised: "In terms of Nate, Iām pretty sure Nateās final scene was with John which was very very random, also John was in the army so he is trained."
Now, viewers have taken their theory one step further, and think John Sugden isn't really "John". On a Reddit thread, u/LeonnieC suggested: "John is not named John. Iām guessing he stole the identity of a soldier. Secret serial killer, Nate just one of his victims. Could Aaron be in danger??"

u/MarkMcG97 replied: "I'll bet he killed the real John Sudgen and stole his identity" and u/Ornery-Arm-8611 added: "Ooh, that would be a cool plot twist for this John guy actually. I think he's an incredibly boring character at the moment, so if Emmerdale ever went down that route, it would certainly make things interesting."
Another viewer, u/Specialist_ask_992_ suggested: "Nate might have found out a secret about him so got killed. Was planning to move to Scotland anyway".
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
