Emmerdale's Adam Thomas shares suprising detail about ITV gameshow
Adam and Ryan Thomas appeared on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch when they shared a surprising link between ITV's 99 to Beat and Big Brother
Adam and Ryan Thomas, renowned for their roles in Emmerdale and Coronation Street respectively, have unveiled a captivating detail about their new gameshow 99 to Beat.
The siblings have ventured into the world of hosting as they spearhead ITV's enthralling game show. Discussing the project on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch, the pair revealed how the show pits contestants against 99 others with the crucial aim of avoiding last place in a series of intense challenges.
However, an interesting twist was brought to light by the brothers during their chat with presenters Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer.
Adam disclosed: "Well apparently, I don't know if you know this but these are the contestants that never got onto Big Brother."
His revelation left the hosts visibly astonished as Adam added: "So these are the guys that didn't get onto Big Brother and obviously we wanted to have some great contestants for the show," reports Leeds Live.
He then explained their unique casting approach: "So what a better place to look than the Big Brother catalogue," he divulged.
While on Sunday Brunch, the Thomas brothers also mentioned missing their sibling Scott, known from his time on Love Island, stating it's the "hardest part" of leading 99 to Beat.
As the launch of their game show, Adam and Ryan shared their enthusiasm about its distinctive format.
Adam jubilantly declared: "It's a family-friendly, ridiculously stupid, funny, competitive game that anyone can play. That's what we love about it the most – it's not something that you've got to be super-fit or intelligent to do. It's just like: 'Get a slinky, put it on your head and see how quickly you can get it to stay there.'"
"This show's definitely me and Ryan in a nutshell because it's daft, funny and we don't take ourselves too seriously."
Regarding their new project, he added with a grin: "In 99 To Beat, we're on the lookout for a winner, but genuinely we feel like competition winners ourselves.
"Being able to have a show like this on ITV – a channel that we were basically born on – is a very special moment for us. Between me and Ryan, we've done every show that is out there [Celebrity Big Brother, Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing On Ice and I'm A Celebrity], so to be on the other side, hosting the show, is definitely a dream come true."
99 to Beat airs Saturdays at 6pm on ITV1.
