Eurovision Song Contest 2025 UK entry 'unveiled' as The Voice UK stars
The next British musicians have reportedly been revealed as Eurovision fans gear up for this year's glamorous competition in Switzerland.
The UK has chosen a girl band to represent the nation at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, according to sources.
Last year, Olly Alexander stepped into the spotlight for Brits up and down the country to fight it out with the rest of Europe to be crowned the Eurovision Song Contest winner.
The Years and Years frontman took to the stage in Malmo in the heart of Sweden with his hit single Dizzy. Sadly, the Its A Sin star lost out to Nemo from Switzerland with their hit single, The Code.
Now, The Sun claims a girl group has taken on the challenge and will be flying the flag for the country come May – and this isn’t the first time they have performed live for millions.
According to the outlet, the group Remember Monday will be taking to the stage in the heart of Switzerland. It appears as though the musicians will be moving away from the popular Eurodance music of recent years as the trio prepare for the life-changing event.
A source told the outlet: “As ever behind the scenes competition has been fierce to represent the UK. This year bosses have opted to shake things up and send a female trio, Remember Monday.
“The song is a stark change from Olly Alexander last year but the girls are sure to get the nation behind them.” The British country pop trio is made up of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Ane Hull and Charlotte Steele.
But this isn’t the first time the group have found themselves hitting headlines. In 2019, the singers took part in The Voice and caught the eye of BBC Radio 2 Breakfast host Scott Mills when their song was played on the national station last year.
They have also performed at a string of major UK events including Country to Country, The Lind Road and Buckle and Boots. Since they performed on the BBC reality show, the group have amassed an impressive 524,000 followers on TikTok alone.
This year, the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in St Jakobshalle, Basel, Switzerland. Last November, Remember Monday embarked on a UK tour – a year and a half after their debut headline gig in February 2023.
Opening up about taking the leap from their day jobs to be performers, Holly previously said: “It was now or never, as cringy as that sounds.
“We really loved the jobs we were in and we’d worked incredibly hard to get to the places that we were in career wise, so it was a really big decision to leave those jobs.”
Last summer, the trio also supported Billy Joel and Natasha Bedingfield at British SummerTime Festival in Hyde Park.
Teasing 2024 plans, Lauren joked: “World domination. I do have a dream for us that we are out on the road and touring and seeing amazing places. It’d be incredible to tour Europe.”
