Ex Corrie star finally lands new job with co-stars after being 'unemployed'
Actress Ellie Leach recently revealed she was unemployed as she flogged her wardrobe on second hand clothes app Vinted before teasing a new project with her Coronation Street co-stars
A former Coronation Street star has reunited with their co-stars after reportedly being left "gutted and unemployed". Ellie Leach has been spotted cosying up with her former colleagues as she teased a return to screens.
She decided to leave the soap in 2023 after 12 years on the Cobbles as Faye Windass. The actress was gutted to leave the ITV soap, yet went on to win Strictly Come Dancing in the same year. Despite her success on the dance show, Ellie has kept a low profile on TV screens and last month she decided to flog clothes on selling app Vinted for as little as ÂŁ4.

Ellie was devastated when soap bosses said they could "see no future for the character" and has opened up on her work situation since. Just last month, Ellie revealed she was heading on an overseas trip but was "unemployedâ. She wrote: "Working lunch (we are booking a holiday)," alongside a photo of her pal and added: "She's a student and I'm unemployed."

However, it seems Ellie's luck may have changed as she reunited with her former co-stars Catherine Tydesley and Shayne Ward in Malta. The Good Ship Murder stars are in the country alongside the cast and crew of the Channel 5 series. Catherine shared a snap of the team enjoying a dinner together as she teased: "Strong lineup last night."

Ellie was spotted in the photo as she sparked speculation she could be joining the cast and breaking her dry spell. She has also been sharing updates from Malta as she donned shorts and a crop top to cool down from the sunny location. Nothing has officially been confirmed, but it is hoped Ellie could be making her acting return.
Ellie has previously spoken out about the "very hard" struggles of growing up with soap fame. Speaking in 2023, she said: "It's very scary, don't get me wrong, I've met some amazing people through this job. I would never have had the opportunities that I've had if it weren't for Coronation Street. But it's hard, being young."
She has also praised her time on Strictly, where she was partnered with professional dancer Vito Coppola. Although their chemistry sparked speculation of a love affair among fans, both categorically denied any romantic ties. Reflecting on their journey, Ellie shared the profound impact the show had on her, stating: "The days after were very emotional.

"My time at Strictly was life-changing, and to have the bond and friendship I made with Vito was amazing. It's the sort of friendship I'll cherish for the rest of my life. I'm very lucky and grateful for the experience." Despite both getting matching bee tattoos, Ellie and Vito insist they are merely good friends. "From the moment we met, we just clicked," she said, sharing that she now regards Vito as an extended family member and that they "message every day."
Since Strictly, Ellie headed out on the live tour across the UK and made her theatre debut a month later. She starred as Miss Scarlet in the stage play of Cluedo, while in April she was announced as a star of new ITVBe reality series Drama Queens which follows the lives of former and current soap actresses. Alongside her on the show were Lucy Fallon, Jamelia, Jorgie Porter, Amy Walsh, Laura Norton, Roxy Shahidi, Rita Simons and Brooke Vincent.
