Former Disney Channel star Christy Carlson Romano is recovering from a nasty injury she sustained after getting shot in the face with a pellet gun.
Over the weekend, the 40-year-old Even Stevens alum posted an Instagram video assuring fans that she was âsafeâ after taking a pellet near the eye while shooting clay pigeons for her husbandâs birthday.
âSo I got shot in the eye. It was not fun. I am safe,â Romano said, pointing to a deep bruise underneath her right eye.
âI got shot here. It is still inside,â she added, pointing to two different locations where she said fragments of the pellet were still embedded. âWe cleaned that out. Iâm very grateful to first responders as a whole. I mean, theyâre just the most amazing, superhero-like people to take care of us at our most desperate times.â
âThis is really bad tonight,â she continued, pulling down her bottom eyelid to show her eyeâs broken blood vessels.
âI get to say I got shot in the face, and lived to tell the tale,â the Kim Possible actor added before reminding fans to âbe grateful for every day.â

She shared further details of the accident in the postâs caption, explaining that âthere was another party with us and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face.â
Praising her husband, Brendan Rooney, who âimmediately sprung into action, assessed me, and rushed me to the hospital,â she said: âI was hit in 5 places, one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye.
âUnfortunately a fragment got lodged behind my eye and it is too risky to remove surgically at this time. Doctors will continue to monitor me (I can see normally at the moment),â she said.

âWith everything that happened, all I can think about is how grateful I am to be alive. I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much. I saw my life flash before my eyes and Iâm telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant.â
Romano, who shares two daughters with her husband of more than a decade, is best known for her portrayal of Ren Stevens on the three-season Disney Channel sitcom Even Stevens.
She was also the voice behind the titular red-headed superhero of the animated series Kim Possible.
The star recently competed in the third season of the hit reality series Special Forces: World's Toughest Test. She was eliminated in the eighth episode, which aired on January 29.
