Family of man killed in plane crash to finally get answers about his death

The family of a British father killed in an horrific mystery air crash are set to finally get answers over his death - nine years after the tragedy.
New father Richard Osman, 40, was one of 66 passengers who died in the EgyptAir flight over the Mediterranean when a fire broke out on board. The flight plunged into the sea killing Mr Osman on May 18, 2016 but the cause has never been publicly confirmed.
Geologist Mr Osman, of Carmarthen, had boarded the flight in Paris and was on his way to work in Egypt just two weeks after the birth of his second child with his French wife, Aurelie, when the plane went down.
An inquest into his death had been delayed due to disputes between French and Egyptian authorities who reached different conclusions over the crash. Theories included possible terrorism, a fault with an overheating iPhone being charged in the cockpit and the co-pilot smoking a cigarette.
But a final hearing is set to be scheduled for May this year, nine years after the tragedy, after independent aviation experts submitted their own report. A pre-inquest review was told the report's author will give evidence at the hearing and Mr Osman's wife Aurelie is set to provide a victim impact statement.
Coroner Mark Layton said investigations had reached a stage where the inquest was finally in a position to reach a conclusion. Peter Neenan, representing Mr Osman's family, said: "My client is keen to avoid an open conclusion." Mr Layton said he was confident that could be avoided. He added: "I am so pleased that we have managed to actually get to the point we have some useful evidence that we can list the inquest so I am delighted about that."
Flight 804 went down despite no mayday call being received by air traffic control and in October last year French and Egyptian investigators reached different conclusions as to the cause of the crash.
Egypt's Civil Aviation Authority said the crash was the result of an explosion in the galley area behind the cockpit which burned rapidly resulting in multiple systems failure.
However French investigators believed the flight was most likely a result of a fault in the oxygen masks after a fire began in the cockpit. Other theories included possible terrorism, a fault with an overheating iPhone being charged in the cockpit, and the co-pilot smoking a cigarette in the cockpit. Those killed included 40 Egyptians, 15 French citizens and sole Briton Richard.
Mr Osman went to Queen Elizabeth Cambria school in Carmarthen before going to Kingston University and then taking his masters degree at Camborn school of mining in Cornwall.
His father, Dr Mohamed Fekry Ali Osman, was an Egyptian who worked as an ear nose and throat consultant at Singleton hospital, Swansea, before he died at the age of 70 in 2013.
The family's main home is in Jersey. Mr Osman had worked in the Australian goldmines before returning to Europe several years ago.  was traumatized by the abrupt deaths of multiple students who had crushes on her. Plagued by rumors that she was a “witch,” Mi Jeong decided to quit school and stay cooped up inside at home. Even then, her mysterious “curse” followed her, and her father tragically died after saving her from a venomous snake bite.
In a preview that aired at the end of the episode, it was revealed that it was not Mi Jeong’s idea to leave the village; instead, it turned out that she had been pressured to leave by the other villagers. Most shocking of all, Lee Dong Jin (GOT7’s Jinyoung)’s mother Mi Sook (Jang Hye Jin) was seen standing at the forefront of the group asking Mi Jeong to leave. Later, while lying in a hospital bed, Mi Sook confessed to her son, “I was the one who chased that girl away.”
As Mi Sook was always kind, friendly, and generous to not only her son but also her neighbors, her unexpected and seemingly uncharacteristic involvement in Mi Jeong’s departure raised the question of whether something else had happened in the village after her father’s death.
In newly released stills from the drama’s upcoming third episode, a remorseful Mi Sook brings up the incident with Mi Jeong, which had remained painfully buried in her heart. As she lies in the hospital with Dong Jin by her side, Mi Sook catches her son off guard with her shocking confession—and what she has to say ultimately makes Dong Jin determined to figure out and undo the “curse” that afflicts Mi Jeong.
The drama’s production team teased, “This week, the heartbreaking reason why Mi Jeong had no choice but to leave the village—and why Dong Jin wants so badly to help Mi Jeong return to an ordinary life—will be revealed.”
“Dong Jin will begin to dig into Mi Jeong’s ‘pattern of death’ in earnest,” they continued. “The true mystery will begin starting from Episode 3.”
The third episode of “The Witch” will air on February 22 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
