The Rangers legend has faced criticism for calling fans 'amazing' while those fans chanted "F*** the Pope and the IRA."
Ally McCoist has been criticised for labelling "Rangers fans as "amazing" while those fans were chanting "F*** the Pope and the IRA."
McCoist was on co-commentary for TNT Sports during last night's 2-1 win for Manchester United over Rangers in the UEFA Europa League at Old Trafford.
At one point in the first-half, the camera lingered on the Rangers supporters as they audibly chanted 'F*** the Pope and the IRA.'
When commentator Darren Fletcher said, "I'll let you speak about them," McCoist replied "They're amazing, that lot."
McCoist's comments have angered many people online, with some fans on social media criticising the Rangers legend.
62-year-old McCoist is a Rangers legend and made over 550 appearances for the club across a 15-year stint as a player.
McCoist also served as assistant manager at Rangers for four years before becoming manager in 2011, holding the position until 2014.
