Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are one of Hollywood's favorite duos, and they are back in action. The A-listers are starring in Netflix's upcoming crime thriller RIP as Lieutenant Dane Dumars (Damon) and Det Sergeant (Affleck), and based on the sneak peek photo, the gritty, character-driven story is going to be epic.
Matt Damon as Lieutenant Dane Dumars and Ben Affleck as Det SergeantInspired by true events, the film, written and directed by Joe Carnahan (Smokin’ Aces, The Grey), follows a team of Miami police officers who uncover millions in cash inside an abandoned stash house. But what starts as a major bust quickly spirals as outside forces begin circling—and the cops find themselves wondering who they can actually trust.
“RIP came out of a deeply personal experience that my friend went through, both as a father and as head of tactical narcotics for the Miami-Dade Police Department,” Carnahan shared with TUDUM. “It’s inspired in part by his life and then by my enduring love for those classic ’70s cop thrillers that really valued the character and interpersonal relationships and became touchstones of that era—films like Serpico and Prince of the City, and more recently, Michael Mann’s Heat.”
