Former reality TV star injured in attacks by pet dog
Reality TV personality Sean Lowe required emergency room treatment after being repeatedly attacked by his rescue dog, Moose, at his home.
A former star on the reality TV show âThe Bachelorâ had to go to the emergency room after he was attacked multiple times by his pet dog, reports say.
In a post on social media, Sean Lowe, 41, says he was hosting friends for a barbecue last Thursday. Smoke from the barbecue entered the open windows of the house, causing the smoke alarm to go off.
According to TMZ, Lowe went inside and used a towel to try to wave the smoke away from the alarm. It was then that his dog, a rescue named Moose, aggressively began nipping at his hands and feet, then went after his arm, Lowe said.
âHe shows his teeth at me and just attacks me. I donât mean bite and then run off â like a lot of dogs do when theyâre scared or defensive â I mean attacks me,â he recalled. âI feel him ripping into the flesh of my arm and at this point Iâm doing everything I possibly can just to fend this dog off ⊠I know Iâm bleeding badly.â
Lowe was able to get the dog off his arm and went outside, but Moose again attacked Lowe.
âIâm not trying to be dramatic but I honestly just felt like I am fighting for my life here against my dog,â he said, People reports. His friends helped him fend off the second attack, but Lowe said his arm was bleeding profusely and he went to the emergency room.
Reports say Lowe required several stitches to close the cuts. But after returning home, Lowe was attacked again by Moose less than 12 hours later in the backyard, reports say.
âGoing through a dog attack is pretty darn traumatic. Having to re-live it less than 12 hours later, seeing that dog running straight at you, is a feeling I donât think I ever want to experience again,â he said. âHe made a B-line right at me and just lunged and started attacking me again.â
People reports Lowe was able to hold the dog down for about 10 minutes until police arrived. He again had to go the emergency room for treatment.
He said he doesnât blame the dog for the incident, saying Moose had a difficult past before being rescued. But he acknowledge he was glad his wife and children were not home when the attacks occurred, saying his children could have been in grave danger.
âI think itâs clear, he experienced a lot of trauma before we got him and had something neurologically wrong with him,â he noted. âWhere just a switch flipped and he turned into an absolute killer.â He said he is looking for another home for Moose.
