The newly announced live dates will mark the bandâs first actual reunion in 12 years. Back in 2020 shortly after Schlesingerâs death, the surviving Fountains Of Wayne members played a pandemic relief benefit concert via live stream with Sharon Van Etten on bass.
Following his passing, Schlesinger received tributes from various friends and colleagues such as Tom Hanks, who wrote, directed and starred in 1997âs That Thing You Do! which saw Schlesinger work on the soundtrack for the film and was the artist behind the soundtrackâs lead single and title track, which charted all around the world.
âThere would be no Playtone without Adam Schlesinger, without his That Thing You Do! He was a One-der. Lost him to Covid-19. Terribly sad today. Hanx,â read his tweet.

Dashboard Confessionalâs Chris Carrabba tweeted that he was âgrasping for the right wordsâ to say after learning of Schlesingerâs death.
Green Dayâs Billie Joe Armstrong also paid tribute to the late musician by covering âThat Thing You Doâ as part of his No Fun Mondays series of quarantine sessions back in 2020.
Back in 2023, Lauren Mayberry and Matthew Koma also teamed up for a collaborative live cover of âThat Thing You Doâ during Mayberryâs gig at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, New York.
