GB News abruptly delivers unexpected blow to Donald Trump in 'volatile' clash

Donald Trump has slammed Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky once again in a blistering row, arguing he is “prolonging” the war with Russia and Vladimir Putin. Now GB News has delivered an unexpected blow to the US president, branding him “volatile” and highlighting the broken promises he made before his election.

Stephen Dixon and Nana Akua were presenting the show when they spoke to political analyst Eric Ham via video call, with Stephen admitting: “This is a confusing picture. The finger seemed to be being pointed at Russia just a few days ago from the White House, now it’s being pointed firmly back at Ukraine. What are we to make of it?”

Ham pointed out: “Well, I think we’re seeing just how volatile the Trump administration can be – not only in terms of its ability to try to negotiate a peace agreement but also when we look at the administration focusing on trade deals and working with other countries to try to mitigate the tariffs that we know have been causing so much havoc right now.”

Trump told press that he finds it easier to negotiate with Russia than with Zelensky, while the White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told press: “The president’s frustrated; his patience is running very thin. He wants to do what’s right for the world.

“He wants to see peace. He wants to see the killing stop, but you need both sides of the war willing to do that, and unfortunately, President Zelensky seems to be moving in the wrong direction.”

On GB News, Nana played devil’s advocate, stating: “Some people might argue, as Trump seems to be inferring, that Volodymyr Zelensky is actually quite difficult to negotiate with, and the problem with this is that Russia will continue to encroach.

“The longer that he leaves this – because obviously he wants to keep all his territories, fair enough – that there will actually be nothing left of Ukraine.”

Eric responded: “I think what we’re seeing here is you’ve got a president of the United States who makes clear that he is weighted towards one, getting a deal, but getting a deal that is certainly going to cost Ukraine so much more than it is going to cost Russia.

“While Zelensky is attempting to negotiate and try to claw back as much as he can and rightfully so, I think because the president has had so many self-inflicted wounds and now of course his political capital is on the line – we have to remember, this is a president who said that he would get a deal within 24 hours of actually getting elected – and we see that right now Russia and Ukraine are no closer to a deal today than they were when Donald Trump was in fact elected.

“In addition to that, even though we know that there was a ceasefire in place, again what we continue to see is Russia acting as the aggressor and right now I think what you’re seeing is frustration from the president.

“Of course it’s on Zelensky right now, but of course we do know that this is a president who is deeply frustrated and right now he lacks the bandwidth and the team and the expertise to actually be able to move this process over the finish line for the long haul.”
