GMB's Alex Beresford breaks silence as Piers Morgan confirms return to ITV show
The pair had a huge clash during Piers' last appearance on the programme.
Good Morning Britainâs Alex Beresford has taken to social media ahead of his return to the breakfast show, just hours after Piers Morgan announced that he would also be making his comeback after nearly four years.
Beresford, who has been on paternity leave, tweeted: âAfter two weeks paternity not knowing what day of the week itâs been, this gonna be an interesting get up for GMB. Sleep is overrated!â
He attached a photo of his alarm clock set for 3.45 AM ahead of his early morning wake-up for the show.
Meanwhile, Piers Morgan surprised viewers with his own announcement, revealing that he would be making his first return to Good Morning Britain since his dramatic exit in 2021.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: âBREAKING: Itâs been nearly 4yrs (1,453 days to be precise!) since I departed âŠGMB rather hastily⊠but tomorrow morning, for the first time, Iâm going back. Iâll be on with âŠSusanna Reid and Ed Balls at 8.15am.â
The timing of both announcements has not gone unnoticed, with some social media users speculating that Beresfordâs tweet was a subtle nod to Piers' return.
One commenter wrote: âNot a touch of co-incidence you post this under the guise of being a new Dad, shortly after Piers Morgan announces he will be there at 8.15am..posting for attention & likes is overrated.â
Another added: âYou called it.â A third joked: âMake him walk off again, thatâd be greatâŠâ
Piers Morganâs original departure from Good Morning Britain in 2021 came after a heated on-air debate with Beresford over Meghan Markle and Prince Harryâs interview with Oprah Winfrey.
During the discussion, Beresford criticised Morganâs dismissal of Markleâs mental health struggles. He hit out at the presenter, saying: âAnd I hear Piers say William has gone through the same thing but, do you know what, siblings experience tragedy in their life and one will be absolutely fine and brush it off and the other will not be able to deal with it so strongly and that is clearly what has happened with Harry in this situation.
âHe walked behind his motherâs coffin at a tender, tender age in front of the globe. That is going to shape a young boy for the rest of his life, so I think we all need to take a step back, and I understand that you donât like Meghan Markle, youâve made it so clear a number of times on this programme.â
âAnd I understand youâve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle or had one and she cut you off. Sheâs entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I donât think she has but yet you continue to trash herâŠâ
This led to Morgan abruptly walking off set live on air, before ultimately leaving the show permanently.
