Gene Hackman's death has raised a lot of questions; having been found alongside his wife, Betsy Arakawa, and even their pet dog, with officials scambling to answer his cause of death.
On Wednesday, 26th February, the 95-year-old star and wife, 63, were found dead in their Santa Fe, New Mexico, home, sending shockwaves across Hollywood and the globe.

Authorities remain puzzled over the exact circumstances that led to the couple's death, but they are now considering the possibility their pet dog holds clues.

Police have ruled out foul play and are awaiting autopsy and toxicology reports to determine the exact cause of death.

Officials have stated: "We are in the middle of a preliminary death investigation and awaiting approval of a search warrant," according to Sky News.
One of the main concerns in the investigation is environmental factors, such as carbon monoxide poisoning or an undetected gas leak.
The dog's body has raised suspicions that something in the home environment may have contributed to the death of the couple and German Shepherd.

Gene and Betsy were devoted animal lovers, having owned a number of German Shepherds over the years.
If carbon monoxide is the cause of their deaths, the dog would have died in the same manner, answering the question of cause of death.
In the meantime, Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza reassured local residents there is nothing to be concerned about, stating: âI want to assure the community and neighbourhood that thereâs no immediate danger to anyone.â

The French Connection star largely retreated from the public eye following his retirement in 2004 after the release of his final film, Welcome to Mooseport.
In 2009, he gave a rare interview with Empire Magazine in which he spoke of health concerns that inspired him to quit Hollywood.
