Now, a recent study has crowned Glasgow as the top UK city for St Patrick's Day celebrations, outshining other cities in England, Scotland and Wales.
The research, carried out by The Winners Enclosure, considered factors such as Guinness prices, the number of Irish pubs, St Patrick's Day parades, and the tradition of 'Splitting the G.'
Glasgow emerged victorious in the St Paddy's celebrations ranking, scoring an impressive 75.9 out of 100, just edging out Edinburgh for the top spot.
The study highlighted that Glasgow offers a reasonably priced pint of Guinness at an average cost of £4.82. Glasgow also boasts the most Irish bars, with 18 bars making it a lively hub for St Patrick's Day festivities.
Over the past year, three new Irish bars have opened in Glasgow, trailing only behind Manchester, which saw five new openings.
Additionally, the study also found that people in Glasgow enjoy the social media trend of "splitting the G." This involves taking a sip from a pint of Guinness and trying to leave the liquid level at the halfway point of the "G" on the logo of the glass.
Glaswegians have googled the trend on an average of 320 Google searches per month, which equates to 50.6 searches per capita showing a strong enthusiasm for the celebrations.
Edinburgh secured second place with a score of 75.4 out of 100.
The Scottish capital is home to 12 Irish bars, including three new additions in the past year. The city sees the same demand for ‘Split the G’ as Glasgow but was held back by higher Guinness prices, averaging £5.29 per pint.
Manchester took third place with a score of 62.6 out of 100.
The city led the way in new Irish bar openings, with five establishments launching in the past year. Manchester also recorded 480 monthly searches for ‘Split the G,’ but when adjusted for population, this equated to 17.6 searches per capita.
Liverpool came in fourth, scoring 56.9 out of 100. With its historic ties to Ireland, it's no surprise that the city boasts 19 Irish bars, three of which opened in the past year.
A pint of Guinness in Liverpool averages £4.75, perfect for enjoying the city's St Patrick's Day parade.

With St. Patrick's Day falling on a Monday this year and many heading to the pubs for a pint of Guinness, there's one thing you can do to ensure a looming hangover doesn’t spoil the celebrations.
Wether your celebrating over the weekend or on the actual day, the secret to waking up without a hangover is green tea.
The owner of British tea supplier - Britsuperstore - Richard Price has explained how a green tea can help, stating: "Green tea contains powerful antioxidants called catechins, which may help accelerate the liver’s ability to metabolise alcohol.
These antioxidants reduce the oxidative stress caused by alcohol, helping to minimise the harmful effects it can have on your body."
Although drinking green tea wont guarantee a completely hangover-free morning, "it can certainly support your body’s natural detox process and potentially reduce common hangover symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, and dehydration."
