Go Ara has shared more insights on her upcoming TVING drama “The Scandal of Chunhwa”!
“The Scandal of Chunhwa” is a historical romance drama that tells the story of Princess Hwa Ri (Go Ara) who, after experiencing the heartbreak of her first love, declares her intention to choose her future husband herself. Her groundbreaking decision throws the royal palace into turmoil and entangles her with two men: Choi Hwan (Jang Ryul), the city’s most notorious playboy, and Jang Won (SF9’s Chani), the city’s most eligible bachelor.
Go Ara stars as free-spirited Princess Hwa Ri who turns the city upside down with her audacious proclamation to pursue love freely before selecting her own husband. In an era where strict norms dictated the roles of men and women, Hwa Ri defies tradition with her “freedom of choice” mantra, carving her own path and intriguing audiences with her journey.
Marking her first OTT project with The Scandal of Chunhwa, Go Ara shared, “I was drawn to the variety of love stories presented by the different couples in this drama. I found Hwa Ri particularly captivating because [the character] allows me to explore [a wide range of emotions] from a young girl to a mature woman.”
About her character, Go Ara explained, “She’s a representative of modern, forward-thinking women. She's a creative person who possesses a strong sense of self, speaks her mind, and refuses to accept oppression, injustice, and discrimination. I even found myself reflecting on how much I resonate with her and wondered if I might have been Hwa Ri had I lived in that era.”
As the drama highlights women’s autonomy in its historical setting, Go Ara emphasized Hwa Ri’s unique appeal: “She challenges what society deems obvious. Whether in the past or present, people of all ages love and live life in their own way. Through Hwa Ri’s perspective, viewers will realize that what seems obvious might not be so.”
Go Ara also pointed to the drama’s key appeal: “The story showcases Hwa Ri’s growth into a mature woman alongside the diverse tales of the other couples. It’s not only engaging but also offers relatable moments. Simply put, I can confidently say it’s fun.”
“The Scandal of Chunhwa” will premiere on February 6.

BTS’s Jimin has set a new record on the Billboard 200!
On January 22 local time, Billboard revealed that Jimin’s second solo album “MUSE”—which first debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 back in July—had climbed back up to No. 118 in its 26th consecutive week on the chart.
Notably, “MUSE” has now become the first album by a Korean soloist ever to spend 26 weeks on the Billboard 200.
Over on Billboard’s Hot 100, Jimin’s title track “Who” stayed strong at No. 41 in its 25th non-consecutive week on the chart—tying the record set by FIFTY FIFTY’s “Cupid” for the third longest-charting K-pop song to date. The only K-pop songs to spend more weeks on the Hot 100 are BTS’s “Dynamite” and PSY’s “Gangnam Style.”
Meanwhile, “MUSE” took No. 3 in its 26th week on Billboard’s World Albums chart, while “Who” swept the No. 21 spot on both the Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. chart. “Who” also re-entered the Digital Song Sales chart at No. 23, in addition to remaining on the Streaming Songs chart at No. 29.
Finally, Jimin re-entered Billboard’s Artist 100 at No. 69, marking his 33rd overall week on the chart as a soloist.
