Goldie Hawn Reveals Vision Struggle At 2025 OscarsâI was so lucky [to] make movies and making people laugh. And maybe some didn't, but that's OK,â Hawn began, before suddenly turning to Garfield.
âOK. Sweetheart, can you read that? I can't read that,â she admitted. âI'm completely blind. I mean, I am! Cataracts.â
Garfield maintained his composure, responding calmly, âOK, I've got you,â before stepping in to help with the presentation.
Despite the lighthearted tone, sources close to Hawn later revealed to Daily Mail that the actress felt embarrassed by the attention her comment received.
âGoldie is embarrassed that the focus of her Oscar night was her vision issues,â an insider shared. âIt is not something she wanted everyone talking about. She was just trying to be funny.â

What Is Cataracts?Cataracts develop when the usually clear lens of the eye begins to develop a cloudy texture, which can make it feel as if one is viewing things through a fog.
The condition can impact any activity requiring sight, but it can make things like reading or driving, particularly at night, difficult. Cataracts often aren't noticed for some time, as the condition tends to develop slowly.
