Grand National 2025 LIVE!
The jewel in the crown of British horse racing is upon us as the Grand National takes centre stage again today at Aintree as a field of 34 take on 30 fences for the £1million prize money in what promises to be a fantastic renewal of the race. Last year’s winner I Am Maximus is back and looking for back-to-back successes to emulate Tiger Roll and, further back, Red Rum.
The market earlier in the week looked to prefer the likes of Stumptown or Ikoro, but trainer Willie Mullins' golden run over the first two days at the Aintree meeting has seen punters look back at the 2024 winner and predict a third National triumph for Mullins, after Hedgehunter in 2005. Other threats include Vanillier, who came second in 2023, and Hewick.
Away from the showpiece, which is at 4pm this afternoon, Aintree has six other races on the card, kicking off with the Handicap Hurdle at 1.20pm and concluding with the Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race at 5.35pm. You can follow all the action LIVE with Standard Sport’s blog below.
