Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were all smiles as they attended an Invictus Games welcome party in Whistler, Canada, before Harry jokingly embarrassing his wife on stage
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were all smiles as they enjoyed a beer at an Invictus Games welcome event in Whistler. The crowd was in stitches when Harry, 40, playfully suggested that Meghan, 43, might grace them with a song.
The Sussexes were all smiles ahead of Harry's stage appearance to kick off three days of sporting action at the posh ski destination. He expressed gratitude to those gathered and invited Meghan to join him, teasing: "And now she's going to sing!" Taken by complete surprise, Meghan could only laugh and shake her head as the audience responded with cheers and applause.

Earlier on, Canadian singer Michael Buble delighted everyone with an impromptu rendition of his song Feeling Good before warmly introducing Harry to the stage, saying: "I know how difficult something like this is, so I wanted to make sure I did this right. Without the incredible effort of this young man, none of this would have happened, so please welcome my friend, Prince Harry."
Harry and Meghan are set to spend three days in Whistler, cheering on Invictus athletes competing in adaptive winter sports such as skeleton and alpine skiing. Braving chilly -11C temperatures, they met with the UK team participating in the Skeleton, mingling with competitors and their families trackside.
For her snowy outing, Meghan donned a chic £1,000 white Mackage coat, a snug Hattack Beanie, and sturdy Sorrel boots, reports the Mirror. The Duchess of Sussex was spotted having a heartwarming interaction with brothers Benjamin, 12, and Sebastian Evans, 6, whom she recognised from the 2023 Games in Dusseldorf, Germany. She also shared a warm embrace with their mother Rachel and happily posed for snaps with the boys and their father Mike, a former member of the UK skeleton team.

Meghan was seen speaking to a young boy at the event
Rachel revealed to the Mirror: "The boys were talking to Meghan about how they went on a tube ride (snow tubing) and got stuck. They met her before at the last Games in Düsseldorf." The Lincoln-based family were there to cheer on Mike at the event, which is part of a series of competitions that kicked off on Saturday.
The 2024 Invictus Games began this week with a star-studded opening ceremony held at Vancouver's BC Place Stadium, which can accommodate 40,000 spectators. During the event, Harry delivered a powerful speech, urging competitors to rise above the "moment of difficulty and division in many parts of the world".
Harry playfully suggested that Meghan would sing to the crowd, leaving her in shock
Many interpreted his words as a subtle jab at Donald Trump, who had made disparaging comments about Meghan just hours before the Invictus Games commenced. Addressing the massive crowd, Harry said: "At this moment, when there is no shortage of crises, no absence of uncertainty, no lack of weak moral character in the world, the values you embody, the way you carry yourselves – not only at the Invictus Games, but each and every day – your courage, your resilience, your humanity, illuminate a path forward for us all."
On the same day, Trump rejected the idea of deporting Harry from the US over the royal's autobiography revelations about his past drug use, brutally asserting that Harry has "enough problems with his wife" already.
