Harry's surprise act and Meghan's surprise reaction exposes 'telling change'
Meghan Markle spent five days in Canada with Prince Harry at the Invictus Games and an unexpected move on stage is analysed by body language expert Judi James
Meghan Markle was taken aback by a daring move from Prince Harry at the Invictus Games, which signalled a shift in their dynamic, a body language expert has claimed.
The Sussexes have been putting on a united front at the event in Canada, with Meghan spending five days supporting her husband at his cherished Games before returning home to their children, Archie and Lilibet.
During Meghan's Canadian visit, she spent several days with Harry in Vancouver before they travelled to the ski resort of Whistler, where they both appeared on stage at a welcome event.
Harry was introduced on stage by Michael Buble, who thrilled the crowd of 1,000 with a performance of Feeling Good.
Welcoming Harry on stage, the Canadian singer said: "I know how difficult something like this is, so I wanted to make sure I did this right. Without the incredible effort of this young man, none of this would have happened, so please welcome my friend, Prince Harry."
Meghan joined Harry on stage after his speech, only for him to jest: "Now she's going to sing!" leaving his wife stunned.
Body language expert Judi James told the Mirror that the interaction was very revealing.
She said: "Harry loves playful behaviour and banter, but he usually adopts a different tone with Meghan, sticking to more romantic narratives. Here though he brings her into his routine with a flapping hand that suggests good humour rather than any royal graciousness.
"There is some synchronicity here though as she actually seems pretty much in tune with his more fun side. At first there is the usual mutual hugging, and Meghan shows empathy by rubbing Harry's hand to thaw it out in the cold air. But when he jokes about her singing, her response is speedy as she looks shocked but then equally playful.
"The last image of the pair leaning forward into the mic to take their goodbyes is one of the better images of them working as an upbeat, casual and relaxed team of two."
Judi's observations come amid Meghan's heartfelt message to Harry as she returned to their children, Archie and Lilibet, while Harry stayed on in Canada.
On her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Meghan shared a snapshot of customised shirts for Archie and Lilibet, alongside a variety of Canadian treats.
She penned a supportive note for her spouse, saying, "A taste of Canada and The Invictus Games for our little ones! Cheering you on from home!"
Throughout the Invictus Games, an event honouring wounded service members, Meghan has been active on her newly launched Instagram, posting stories showing her mingling with competitors' kids and whizzing through the stadium at the opening ceremony in a golf cart.
