Havoc movie starring Tom Hardy streaming now but 'Netflix misses the mark'

Tom Hardy's latest blockbuster Havoc has landed on Netflix - but to mixed reviews. Fans have been gearing up for another heart-racing thriller with an intense and gore-filled trailer giving a glimpse of the excitement to come.
The teaser set the stage for the flick's release on April 25, with anticipation building across the globe as budding viewers caught a glimpse of Hardy portraying a ruggedly resilient Walker, battling criminal forces in Los Angeles.
Movie buffs declared they were "100 per cent in" after watching the trailer, which left much of the plot to people's imagination. A synopsis does provide more of an idea on what's in store for viewers, though.
Article continues belowThe overview outlines: "In the aftermath of a drug deal gone wrong, Walker finds himself with a number of factions on his tail; a vengeful crime syndicate, a crooked politician, as well as his fellow cops.
"When attempting to rescue the politician's estranged son, whose involvement in the drug deal starts to unravel a deep web of corruption and conspiracy, he is forced to confront the demons of his past."
However, just a day after gracing small screens for the first time, the movie has already hit something of a bum note, with audience members saying Netflix has "missed the mark" with what was billed as an action-packed thriller.
"Only impressive thing is the agent who convinced Tom Hardy to accept this role," one user wrote on Rotten Tomatoes. "Netflix misses the blockbuster category yet again."
Another commented: "Like watching a kid's video game. In fact, would love to know how much is CGI. Feels like 90 per cent."
A third gave their view: "Not a great movie, but pretty solid action. It's one of those movies you can watch while... making the dinner, doing chores, and not truly miss anything regarding plot."
Critics seems to be largely in agreement although many did have positive sentiments to share also.
Beth Webb from Empire Magazine wrote: "The plot feels somewhat overstuffed... it also means that the action takes a little while to arrive - but when it does, it lands like a nuclear missile."
Meanwhile, Jonathan Romney from the Financial Times concluded: "Havoc is brutal, cynical, ultimately a little repetitive but done with absolute expertise... while the city-dark atmospherics... are laid on with real elegance."
Havoc sees Hardy collaborate with a star-studded cast that includes Mei Li, Justin Cornwell, Quelin Sepulveda, Luis Guzmán, Michelle Waterson, Sunny Pang, Jim Caesar and Xelia Mendes-Jones.
Gareth Evans, acclaimed for his work on 'Gangs of London' and 'The Raid', is at the helm of the film's direction.
Underneath the YouTube trailer, enthusiasts voiced their excitement in the comments, with one fan starting off the admiration and defying the negative reviews by saying: "I was sold as soon as I saw 'Director of Raid' + Tom Hardy.

 — Novak Djokovic lost to Matteo Arnaldi in the opening round of the Madrid Open on Saturday, extending the 24-time Grand Slam winner's struggles on clay ahead of Roland Garros.
Arnaldi won 6-3, 6-4, delaying Djokovic’s search for a career 100th title.
Djokovic also lost his opener to Alejandro Tabilo at the Monte Carlo Masters two weeks ago.
It was the first meeting between Djokovic and 44th-ranked Arnaldi of Italy.
Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva reached the last 16 for the third straight year by defeating Magdalena Frech 7-5, 6-3.
The 17-year-old Andreeva, ranked No. 7, has yet to lose before the Madrid fourth round.
She reached that stage for the first time in 2023 while playing as a wild card in her second WTA main draw. Last year, her first big quarterfinals came in the Spanish capital.
“I was very, very nervous,” Andreeva said. “I still struggle to find my best tennis in Madrid. Super happy that I could manage to play consistent throughout the whole match.”
Andreeva, who will turn 18 on Tuesday, will next face Ukrainian qualifier Yuliia Starodubtseva, who defeated 18th-seeded Liudmila Samsonova in three sets.
