'Titanic' is a firm favourite film for many, but a scene was cut from the 1997 film, and people have been left wondering why.
Of course, most people know that Titanic is based on true events. On April 15, 1912, the RMS Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean after hitting an iceberg, and over 1,500 people lost their lives as a result of the tragedy. The Titanic was taking its maiden voyage from Southampton in England to New York City, USA. According to National Geographic, The Titanic rests on the ocean floor, over 350 nautical miles off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.
There was a scene deleted from the movie, however, which depicted a boy being saved. Like much of the storyline in Titanic, it was true, and the person who was saved was named Wing Sun Fong, but he was listed as Fang Lang, @titanicstories reports on TikTok.
He was one of eight Chinese passengers who were onboard the Titanic, boarding at Southampton as a third class passenger. Fang Lang was rescued from the freezing cold water and picked up from the sea, apparently clinging to a wooden door. The identity of the person picked up has never been firmly established, shares the Encyclopaedia Titanica, but it is believed to be Fang Lang.
It's alleged that despite the fact the water was minus two degrees and he would've been freezing, once Fong was pulled from the water, he then helped to row the lifeboat to shore.
This emotional scene was removed from the Titanic film - potentially because the final cut was a whopping three hours and 14 minutes.

According to Encyclopaedia Titanica, after the Titanic, "It appears he spent the next few years working aboard ships in the Caribbean, but with the outbreak of WWI, he resettled in Europe and worked on ships operating out of Le Havre in France.
"Fong lawfully entered the USA as an immigrant on 15 September 1920 and settled in the Chicago area, attempting to establish himself as a merchant before launching a laundry service. After a time, he relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he worked as a waiter at Lotus, a Chinese restaurant located on 3rd Street."
Wing Sun Fong went on to live a very long life after his ordeal, and he died in the Chinatown area of Chicago on 21 January 1986 at the age of 91.
In the TikTok comments, someone asked, "Why was that deleted?" Nobody had an answer, but people suggested they should "re-release it with all the deleted scenes". Someone penned: "They did on the 25th anniversary in the cinema. They had the extended version, so they had the deleted scenes and alternate ending version".
"Why did they delete this scene? It was so meaningful for him for his story to be told. Rest in peace, Mr. Wing Sun Fong," someone emotionally wrote.
Another said: "Go watch a documentary that came out in 2021 called The Six. It explains why they weren’t talked about back then and explains their stories after."
