'Saturday Night Live' looks back at Ashlee Simpson's botched musical performance in 'Ladies and Gentlemen... 50 Years of SNL Music,' which streams on Peacock. The documentary shares behind-the-scenes audio from backstage during the 2004 episode, featuring the staff's panicked voices as they scrambled to discover what went wrong. The 'Pieces of Me' singer explained to ET at the time, she had lost her voice and needed a backup track to sing along to but her drummer pushed play on the wrong song. 'If you ever go out to one of my shows... I'm always singing my heart out,' Ashlee told ET two days after her musical guest spot, as she dodged rumors claiming the live mishap revealed that she lip-synced her music. 'I'm a human being and things happen. Nobody's perfect.'
