The MTR Corporation, the city’s rail operator, said that some services in Tin Shui Wai had been suspended since about 7am on Saturday, adding the damage was repaired at 11.13am and services were gradually resuming.
Police said they received a report from the 41-year-old driver, surnamed Poon, at 7.04am that the crane was suspected to have struck the overhead cable between Tin Yuet and Tin Wing stops as he drove along Tin Wah Road in Tin Shui Wai.
After a preliminary investigation, the man, who passed an alcohol test, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
No injuries were reported, the force said.
