As the two locked lips and shared a laugh, Chapman, who was standing nearby in a custom strapless Marchesa gown, appeared nothing but supportive.
She clapped and cheered, showing no signs of jealousy or discomfort.

The kiss was a callback to the 2003 Academy Awards, where Brody surprised Berry on stage after winning Best Actor for his role as Wladyslaw Szpilman in "The Pianist." At the time, he swept her into an impromptu kiss that left viewers stunned.
"No, that was not planned. I knew nothing about it," Berry said in a 2017 interview, per ABC. "For real, I was like, 'What the f-ck is happening right now?' That is what was going through my mind."

However, the actor also made headlines for his unconventional gum-tossing move.
As Brody made his way to the stage to accept his second Best Actor award for his performance in the Brady Corbet-directed drama, he briefly paused, reached up to his mouth, and casually tossed the gum toward Chapman's outstretched hands. The surprising moment quickly became a talking point, prompting Kelly Ripa to bring it up during Brody's appearance on "Live With Kelly & Mark" the following morning.
"Gum! Because I forgot I was chewing gum, and I can't [chew gum in a] thank you speech," Brody explained, laughing off the incident.
