NBC and BBC have just released one of the most ambitious wildlife documentary series ever: The Americas. Narrated by Tom Hanks, the sweeping nature documentary covers North and South America’s 8,700 miles and includes rare footage of animals in their natural habitat. The series spans ten episodes and took five years and 180 expeditions to create.
If you’re looking to watch the new nature series, read on. Below are a few ways to stream The Americas online without cable, plus key details about the acclaimed project.

Hulu + Live TV
Hulu + Live TV is another great cable streaming service that carries NBC. This one offers a three-day free trial and costs $82.99 a month after that.
DirecTV Stream
NBC is included in several DirecTV Stream plans, including its new $40-a-month MyNews plan. This plan starts with a five-day free trial and carries other news channels like FOX, CNN, and MSNBC.
Peacock
If you don’t mind waiting an extra day to watch new episodes, you can also stream The Americas on Peacock. This streamer is much more affordable at $7.99 a month, but it does not offer a free trial.
New episodes of The Americas air on NBC on Sundays at 7 p.m. ET/PT. There was a two-episode premiere on Feb. 23, and another two will be released back-to-back on March 2. After that, we’ll get one episode a week on Sundays. There will be 10 episodes in total.
The Americas promises some of the best wildlife filmography to date, but the show is also bolstered by a star narrator, Tom Hanks, and an A-list score by Hans Zimmer. The show also features an original song from Brandi Carlile, titled “Wandering.”
“A ton of it is just … me reacting to this footage,” Hanks told Today. “There are times where I cannot believe what I am looking at. There is not a moment of artificiality in there. Nothing has been CGI’d … [You ask yourself], ‘How long is someone bent over an eyepiece of a camera, saying, I think the bee is going to land where the other bee is’?”
