Netflix drama Adolescence has had viewers cancelling their plans and refusing to move from their sofas. Fans have recently praised the drama, with some claiming it's the best they've seen by miles. With Liverpudlian Stephen Graham at the helm alongside acting newbie Owen Cooper, the drama shares the heartbreaking story of a 13-year-old accused of murdering a girl in his class.
Throughout the series, Owen's character, Jamie Miller is arrested and charged with the murder, with Ashley Walters playing Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe overseeing the investigation. The show also details the impact of the crime committed by Jamie on his family and his school, as well as the disturbing CCTV footage captured moments before he killed his school mate.
The Crown actress Erin Doherty also appears in the series as a clinical psychologist as she explores the mindset of Jamie and the impact the likes of Andrew Tate and his brother are having on young men. But the series also features one huge change as every episode is shot in one take.

The characters are followed around their homes, on car journeys and the police station in real time adding to the drama behind the show. Despite only dropping on the streaming platform days ago – some viewers have made the decision to lock themselves away to binge watch the show.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, fans rushed to share that they were binge watching and hadn't moved from their sofas. One said: "Just watched Adolescence on Netflix in one day. It's crazy, but this is what kids are really gonna be dealing with in school now - thanks to social media, manosphere propaganda and increasing gender inequalities in education. It's really a scary time to be a parent."
A second commented: "Binge watched Adolescence last night on Netflix. Absolutely phenomenal drama. Stunning performances all round especially from the teenage actors. And four single-shot episodes that only added to the tension." "Adolescence on Netflix is like a continuous gut punch for four hours, f***ing brutal but it is must see TV," said another.

Meanwhile a fourth added: "Just watched that #Adolescence on netflix, all 4 episodes in one sitting, quite possibly one of the best things I've seen in years, to do the whole thing in one-shot episodes too was brilliant! Sat with my little boys asleep next to me, crying like a baby by the end!"
"F*****g hell just finished Adolescence on Netflix in one sitting, that was so good but so fucking harrowing, acting, writing and camerawork all incredible," said another. Despite the show not being based on a true story, Stephen who co-created and wrote the series emphasised that the series shares an "ordinary family's worst nightmare."
Speaking to Tudum, by Netflix, he said: "I really just wanted to shine a light on it, and ask, 'Why is this happening today? What's going on? How have we come to this?'"
