Hulk Hogan defies WWE boo boys as wrestling return lined up
The Champ made an appearance on FOX News doubling down on his Trump support
Legend Hulk Hogan has pushed back on angry fans with another WWE appearance in the pipeline.
The wrestling icon was showered with boos when he appeared in WWE's historic Netflix debut last week. The likes of the Rock and Triple H graced the stage to great fanfare. However, the 71-year-old struggled to hear his Hulkamaniacs through the dissenting distractors as he entered LA's Intuit Dome. The veteran star, real name Terry Bollea, has been a figure of controversy over the past few years including recordings of racist remarks in 2015 which many in the WWE believe an apology is still owed for.
Hogan was also a huge advocate for President-elect Donald Trump, with many speculating that was the reason behind the boos, albeit this theory failing to align with what is a typically less liberal wrestling audience. Despite the criticism, Hogan appeared on Fox News on Monday night and he was in party mood doubling down on his Trump support.
While swigging from a beer can he said: "All I got to say, brother, is I got my Trump pump back on and Iâm gonna be riding dirty all the way to that inauguration." He added: "We got a real American president, brother, and weâre already celebrating the inauguration even before it happens because we know weâre getting our country back, brother. Wow!"
And fans havenât seen the last of the former WWE Champion, who is set to appear at Saturday Nightâs Main Event on January 25. Wrestling reporter Dave Meltzer confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio: âHoganâs gonna be on that show on January 25 [Saturday Nightâs Main Event]. When Hogan was shown on the screen in the building, they booed like crazy. Itâs going to be interesting. Do they put him in front of the crowd and risk him being booed, or does he come out and maybe the crowd doesnât boo? The other interesting one is Hogan and Jesse, they will be in the building [together]. But I donât expect any problems.â
