I Found a $13 Version of the Elevated $130 Sweater I’ve Dreamt About for Months
A shopping editor reviews the Free Assembly Button Split-Neck Sweater from Walmart that’s nearly identical to a $130 Sezane sweater. Grab the lookalike style on sale for just $13.

As a shopping editor, I have a pretty good excuse to justify new clothing purchases (though my wallet would probably disagree). I love testing out the latest fashion trends and incorporating new pieces into my wardrobe, but as a 31-year-old with bills to pay, I do my best to find affordable styles within my budget.
One of my favorite under-the-radar stores to search for trending fashion is Walmart. I found a Free Assembly Button Split-Neck Sweater that’s nearly identical to a Sezane style I almost bought for $130. With my budget in mind, I knew the cool-girl French brand’s sweater was out of reach, so I opted for the now-$13 Walmart option instead and couldn’t be happier. After testing out the elevated pullover, I’m even more confident about passing on the pricier alternative.

I’m brutally honest when it comes to clothing, and if I’m not a fan of the quality, I won’t recommend it. Free Assembly’s sweater is a must-have in your winter wardrobe, and if the sale price isn’t enough to convince you, take it from someone who owns their fair share of pricey tops: the quality is top-tier, even compared to designer styles in my closet.
The soft, midweight sweater is nearly sold out in olive green and navy, but it’s still available in cream—and selling fast. If you love low-lift outfits that still look elevated, this sweater is my go-to top to style with jeans and boots. The strategically placed buttons make it wearable in two ways: fully buttoned as a turtleneck and unbuttoned as a split neck that shows a bit of shoulder—and it’s stunning either way you wear it.
One shopper praised the affordable sweater’s thick, soft, and extremely comfortable material and said the quality exceeded their expectations, and I couldn’t agree more. My coworker thought it was a designer find and was shocked when I told her it was only $13. Another reviewer said the fabric looks more high-end than the price, noting that the hem is slightly cropped and the overall fit is boxy, so keep this in mind when selecting your size.
Grab Free Assembly’s Button Split-Neck Sweater before it fully sells out, and keep scrolling for more sweater styles on my wish list at Walmart.
