I'm a TV writer and Disney's must-watch thriller rivals The Night Agent
Paradise airs on Disney Plus on January 28, with a bumper three-episode premiere.
Stirling K Brown stars as Xavier Collins
The Night Agent may have returned to Netflix with a second season, but Disney Plus is offering up a drama equally as exciting. Paradise is gearing up for launch soon and the series follows a security guard who is caught up in the middle of a shocking murder.
Sterling K Brown stars as Xavier Collins, protector and confidante to President Cal Bradford (James Marsden). When it is discovered he is the last person to see Cal alive, he becomes a prime suspect.
Xavier makes it his mission to get to the bottom of the murder mystery, but along the way he discovers even bigger secrets about the serene community in which he lives. The tranquillity explodes when the high-stakes investigation unfolds.
The series is full of huge twists and turns as shocking revelations continue to come to light, throwing Xavier off into dangerous territory every time. Before his death, Cal let Xavier in one some top secret national security information, binding them closer together.
President Bradford tells Collins in the trailer: "When I became president, first thing I asked was about the secrets: aliens, who killed J.F.K. Out of everyone in my detail, you're the only one I really trust." But is there relationship all what it seems?
James Marsden plays Cal Bradford
During a polygraph test during the murder investigation, Collins is asked "Is a part of you happy that Cal is dead?" He is instructed to "Say yes".
Viewers will be left on the edge of their seats and begging for answers following the premiere, which will feature the first three episodes.
After this, the remaining five episodes will air weekly, meanings fans will be left on tenterhooks as they await the next instalment.
The fast-paced, action-packed series is comparable to the likes of The Night Agent and Black Doves, with Sterling K Brown's stellar performance at the heart of it all.
Sarah Shahi and Julianne Nicholson
As crucial details start to come to light, there is a sense of satisfaction and fullfillment that rounds off the viewer experience nicely.
The episodes take viewers from past to present as Collins confronts his previous demons, while discovering new ones along the way.
The series also stars Julianne Nicholson as Samantha Redmond, codenamed Sinatra and Sarah Shahi as one of her closest allies.
Marsden should also be praised for his embodiment of the troubled president as the flashbacks detail his tragic rise to leadership.
Paradise airs on Disney Plus on January 28, it will also air on Hulu for US fans
