ITV Grantchester's Robson Green on 'saying goodbye' in emotional final scenes

Grantchester has made a triumphant return to TV screens for its ninth season, taking viewers back to the quaint Cambridgeshire village.
The series kicked off with high drama as fans witnessed the departure of the much-loved character Will Davenport, played by Tom Brittany.
On Tuesday's episode of This Morning, Robson Green, who stars as Detective Inspector Geordie Keating, joined hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley to discuss the emotional farewell to his fellow actor.
Cat recalled a past interview with Tom Brittany about his character's exit, revealing that the actor had shared how poignant the moment was.
Robson remarked: "It was a difficult scene to film. Listen, the reason why I think it's so successful is that it is so collaborative.

The seasoned actor attributed the show's dedicated following to the talented writers and the passionate team behind Grantchester, who are deeply invested in the success of the long-standing drama, reports Cambridgeshire Live.
Ben brought up Tom's reflections on his last scenes, noting how the cast and crew were visibly moved. He commented: "You do it day in and day out, and you've done it for years. But, there's still that chemistry and that relationship that exists."

That's what you're doing, that was tough. The whole team were saying goodbye to Tom.
"We were wishing him well and now he's off filming in Thailand but it's a goodbye to the journey and that wonderful relationship that we've created and the joy, the laughter. We're still best of friends, of course!"
Robson shared his feelings about Tom's departure from their show, while fans have been excited about Rishi Nair joining the cast. As an executive producer, Robson had a hand in casting and met Rishi before he was hired.

Robson also mentioned that he assured the other executives, who have been with the show since its inception, that they were going to like Rishi.
Grantchester continues Wednesdays on ITV from 9pm. This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
