It Took All Of Season 2, But The Night Agent Finally Explains What Happens To This Major Season 1 Character
Will she be back in season 3?
Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Night Agent season 2!
Secret Service agent Chelsea Arrington is notably absent for most of The Night Agent season 2, but the character's fate is unveiled in the finale episode. Fola Evans-Akingbola serves as one of the few returning characters in The Night Agent season 2's cast list, which also includes Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan as Peter Sutherland and Rose Larkin. In the Netflix show's debut season, Chelsea played a pivotal role working on the Secret Service detail for Maddie Redfield, the Vice President's daughter attending Georgetown University. Before Maddie's kidnapping, Peter questioned Chelsea about her connection to the Metro Bombing.
Unlike many government employees Peter had come in contact with as an FBI agent, Chelsea was someone he could trust. Vice President Redfield was the one who helped order the Metro Bombing and was willing to sacrifice his daughter in a ploy to kill the current president. However, Peter, Rose, and Chelsea were all at Camp David in The Night Agent season 1's ending to prevent the assassination attempt and uncover the truth. In the end, Chelsea saved Maddie, allowing Maddie to agree to testify against her own father. Despite the impact she made, Chelsea isn't involved in season 2's conflict.
The Night Agent Season 2's Finale Reveals What Happened To Chelsea After Season 1Before Then, Chelsea Is Only Briefly Mentioned In Season 2
Chelsea Arrington makes her first and only appearance in The Night Agent season 2 in the finale episode, "Buyer's Remorse." In The Night Agent season 1's finale, Chelsea was asked to join President Michelle Travers' Secret Service detail, which she proudly accepted. Though Travers is briefly shown in the follow-up installment questioning Night Action about Peter's whereabouts, there's no sign of Chelsea in season 2 until the finale. It turns out that Chelsea is now a member of the Secret Service detail for Governor Richard Hagan, who is basically guaranteed to become the next president thanks to Jacob Monroe's interference.
Chelsea's fate is teased in The Night Agent season 2, episode 3, when Catherine mentions giving Rose Secret Service protection. After Rose asks if Chelsea is available, Catherine says Chelsea is "on the campaign trail with one of the presidential candidates." Seeing as Rose is familiar with Chelsea, it makes sense why she would want someone she already trusts based on all of the government deception stemming from season 1. After being away from the conflict in season 2, it now looks like Chelsea will have a significant role to play in The Night Agent season 3's story.
Why Chelsea Will Likely Be An Important Character In The Night Agent Season 3Chelsea Has Ties To Peter's New Boss
The Night Agent season 2's ending uncovers why Monroe wanted the UN cast file. Not only does it contain significant intel into Viktor Bala's connection to Foxglove, but it also incriminates Hagan's presidential opponent, Patrick Knox, as the one who authorized the deal that allowed a dangerous war criminal to acquire Foxglove weapons. Essentially, Hagan can use the truth to clear a path to become the next president, meaning Chelsea will likely be back in The Night Agent season 3 if she remains a part of his Secret Service detail.
Whatever is in store for The Night Agent season 3, it's clear that Monroe and Hagan aren't working together with the country's best interests in mind...
Considering Monroe and Hagan are aligned and the fact that Peter is now in Monroe's pocket, Chelsea seems to be in line to reunite with some former allies connected to Night Action. Surely, if Peter is stuck in another mess, then Rose will show up to help whether anyone asks her to or not. Whatever is in store for The Night Agent season 3, it's clear that Monroe and Hagan aren't working together with the country's best interests in mind, so it could very well rely on Peter, Rose, and Chelsea to work together to thwart another nationwide disaster.
